Chapter 24 – The Academy’s Scheme

The moment Batman stepped out of the interrogation room, he knew.

  Something had changed.

The way the guards stiffened as he walked past. The way the academy officials gnced at him when they thought he wasn’t looking.

The Academy wasn’t just watching him.

  They were pnning something.

  > Predictable.

But that didn’t mean it wasn’t annoying.

  ---

  The Headmaster’s Summon.

It wasn’t long before a message arrived.

  > [Report to Headmaster Zarkath’s office. Immediately.]

  Batman sighed.

  > Of course.

With a flick of his coat, he turned towards the massive ivory tower at the heart of the Academy.

  ---

  Inside the Lion’s Den.

The headmaster’s office was a monument of authority.

Towering bookshelves. Ancient artifacts. A massive window overlooking the entire Academy.

And behind the ornate desk, sat Zarkath.

A man whose very presence weighed down the room.

His golden eyes locked onto Batman the moment he entered.

  > "Sit."

Batman didn’t hesitate. He pulled out the chair and leaned back, completely rexed.

  > "So, what’s this about?"

Zarkath didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he pced a single sealed document on the desk.

  > Oh? Paperwork? Fancy.

  Then, he spoke.

  > "You’re being transferred."

  Batman blinked.

  > "...What?"

  ---

  The Sudden Transfer.

  Zarkath folded his hands.

  > "Effective immediately, you are being reassigned from your current css to Special Combat Division A."

  Batman raised an eyebrow.

  > "That’s the elite division, isn’t it?"

  Zarkath nodded.

  > "Indeed. The strongest cadets. The ones destined for greatness."

  > "And you, Cadet Batman, have caught our attention."

  Batman chuckled.

  > "That’s one way to put it."

  > More like they want to keep me under control.

  ---

  The Real Reason.

  Batman wasn’t stupid.

This wasn’t a promotion. It was a containment strategy.

By pcing him in Special Combat Division A, the Academy could monitor his every move.

They wanted to see what he was truly capable of.

And if necessary—eliminate him before he became a problem.

  > Clever. But not clever enough.

  ---

  The Conditions.

  Zarkath continued.

  > "You will train under Instructor Kaelith, one of our finest."

  > "Your dormitory will be moved to Sector 7."

  > "And from now on, your actions will be closely supervised."

  Batman grinned.

  > "Sounds fun."

  Zarkath narrowed his eyes.

  > "Do not take this lightly, Cadet Batman. You are being given an opportunity."

  > "Prove yourself worthy of this Academy’s trust."

  Batman tilted his head.

  > Trust?

  > Or control?

  Either way, it didn’t matter.

  ---

  Acceptance.

  Batman stood up.

  > "Alright. I accept."

  Zarkath nodded.

  > "Good."

With a flick of his wrist, he dismissed him.

As Batman walked out of the office, he smirked to himself.

  > Elite division, huh?

If they thought this would restrain him, they were dead wrong.

This was just another pying field.

And Batman always knew how to win. ---
