Chapter 64. Self-defence.

Hilda teleports to the second floor along with Shila and Jamine, expecting to find the same graveyard like area but find pathetically weak monsters with a stage like level 1—no trees, plain landscape as far as she can see even with her reinforced sight, the highest level monster being level 8, the mini boss being 12.

“What the actual hell is this?” Hilda said while turning over to Shila.

“Think of it as an update patch, for the trash of course,” Shila says, sounding annoyed as she mentions ‘trash’, the current level 2s-3s Hilda can see in the distance, fighting monsters their level is lower in groups.

“What the hell?! Is this still the tutorial? Are they perhaps being pampered by the guide?” Hilda said, getting very annoyed.

“Calm down, if this was your situation, you wouldn't be at your current level now, would you?” Shila said as Hilda thought for a moment before partially shrugging in agreement.

“Mom, do we blue our faces?” Jamine tugs Hilda's shirt as Hilda turns to Shila who does so, “Shila, you seem oddly tired nowadays,” Hilda said with Shila nodding in response.

“Yea… I don't need sleep but I'm copying Jamine's clone skill, I can't use it till it's good enough for combat but I can use it simply for checking up on the village, I also needed to modify the skill since I don't want to be split in half so my energy is being constantly drained…” Shila said as Hilda carried her up.

“I'll just carry you then,” Hilda said as Jamine gets annoyed with Hilda picking her up too.

“What a great first impression I'll make on the newbies,” Hilda said as Shila looked at her.

“Hilda, you like being known as shameless don't you?” Shila said as Hilda looked oddly proud.

“Yep, knew it,” Shila thinks as she sighs to herself, canceling the copied skill and falling asleep in Hilda arms as Hilda sighs.

“Jamine, let's look around?” Hilda suggests, knowing Shila will be excited due to being social unlike Hilda.

“Ok!” Jamine replies enthusiastically, running off to the other people.

As Hilda follows, carrying Shila on her back, the new people notice Jamine and immediately attack Jamine due to her slime-like appearance.

“Oh, that's a problem,” Hilda thinks to herself as the weapon enters Jamine before getting dissolved easily due to the lack of mana coating it.

Jamine stands still for a moment, processing what they just tried to do before morphing the upper half of her body in a massive mouth, ‘eating’ her attacker.

Hilda watches as Jamine tries to attack more people and suddenly notices a shield made of water.

“Mr busybody is here I guess.” Hilda teleports to Jamine, patting her as she turns back to normal and hugs Hilda’s leg angrily, sticking her tongue at white who stand there.

“What the hell are you here for?” Hilda asks as he starts ‘acting cool’ and protecting the rest of the people.

“I can't allow you to attack these people,” he said loud enough for everybody to hear.

“What are you doing!” Hilda crosses her arms as he steps closer, seemingly protecting the people.

“I want to convince them to join me, okay?” He whispers softly enough for only Hilda to hear after getting close enough.

“Oh, so this whole show is just an act?” Hilda asks, receiving a small light nod from him.

“right, so just… let me do this okay?” White asks as Hilda starts to consider it, sighing as White seems oddly desperate before sending a ridiculously weak wave of sword qi at White as he blocks it using his sword with ease.

Hilda watches as White makes small gestures for her to send more, which she does, each blocked wave seemingly increasing the trust in White amongst the ‘trash’.

“Is this sufficient?” Hilda asked, watching as he nodded with Hilda stopping the attacks, turning around to find somewhere quiet and peaceful.

Hilda suddenly feels her sixth sense activate as she turns around, finding some brave soul running at her with a sword, one provided by the guide due to the obvious inability to obtain swords from slimes much to Hilda's annoyance.

“Wait! N—” white stop the guy as Hilda uses conversion magic, causing parts of him to turn into dynamite before exploding into a couple hundred pieces.

“Stupid idiot, though it's nice there isn't even any recoil,” Hilda thinks to herself as Shila wakes up, rolling herself onto the floor as she gets up.

“Hilda, what happened?” Shila asks, looking around at the now red-coloured grass in front of them.

“Umm, Blue happened?” Hilda said while referring to Blue, the one who took her mask off.

“Right…” Shila teleports back to the territory, not wanting to deal with whatever is this.

“Hey, black!” White whispers oddly loudly, “can't you refrain from murder?”

“Hey, hey? It wasn't murder, it was…” Hilda thinks of another word to use before answering, “self-defence.”

“Why are you even trying to get a couple of,” Hilda glances at them for a moment, “trash!”

“Reasons,” White answers as Hilda contemplates arguing for a moment before sighing.

“Screw it, you do you,” Hilda said as she turned to leave before White called out to her again, “By the way, our trails are basically our trademarks at this point.”

Hilda teleports away without answering, teleporting into her territory as she sees Shila lying there on the couch, looking terrible.

“Shila, you okay?” Hilda sits beside her, helping to pat her back.

“Hilda… you do realise patting a person's back is for burping and vomiting?” Shila asks weakly.

“I know, but it's comforting isn't it? Besides, you're a system, I doubt you're sick by normal means so I doubt medicine from the shop would help.” Hilda said as Shila nodded slightly.

“Weren't you getting better? Why are you so much worse now?” Hilda asks, both out of curiosity and wanting to help.

“Well, I got curious and tried to make 2 clones, but… well, you can see my current state is terrible.” Shila says, looking like she has multiple limbs in the coffin at this point.

“Stupid,” Hilda said as she continued to help pat Shila's back, carrying her to the bed and letting her sleep.

“By the way, Hilda, we should be able to go to the 33rd floor eventually…” Shila says before going to sleep as Jamine suddenly appears.

  “Mom, is sis okay?”

“Yep, why don't you sleep with her? There's nothing to do currently,” Hilda said as Jamine happily jumps onto Shila, waking her up as she pushes Jamine off her and goes back to sleep.

“...” Hilda watches as this situation unfolds and sits at the edge of the bed and watches them both to prevent any trouble.
