‘Dammit, it’s that archer that shot at me! He ruined the plan before it even started.’
I watched as the adventurers I was placing my hopes on fell apart now that they no longer had the advantage of numbers.
Clenching my teeth, I resolutely reached into my space bag and crushed the magic stone, rights be damned, I want to live!
~~~
Blood drenched my arms as I carved out the adventurer’s heart.
I paused, why was I digging this guy’s heart?
I looked up and saw my fellow elf digging out a heart before eating it. He was covered in various wounds but they seemed to stop bleeding after eating.
I was… eating this to heal my arm, right? Wait, it was already healed when I licked the blood earlier, I don’t know anymore.
My instincts told me to eat it quickly before it spoiled so I did.
It was very flavorful, chewy like gushers and the blood was sweet and savory like orange chicken.
Must be the frost elf’s instincts, that or I was secretly bitten by a vampire.
“… thanks.”
I turned and looked at the elf. “if you want to thank me, kill more people without needing my help.”
He nodded before leaving.
I looked around and noticed the other people who needed help were already helped by the adults but the adults themselves were now fighting against the enemy leaders.
From the corner of my eye, I saw a female warrior rushing towards my area, behind her was an elf, I’m going to assume he’s an older kid since he already looked like an adult but was struggling to chase her.
I mentally checked my mana; I had used about ten percent of my mana from firing normal shots.
Injecting mana into my tattoo, falling snow drifted towards me and slowly turned into a bow before aiming at the warrior. I then took out an ice arrow before I covered the shaft with mana and notched it. I took a deep breath before performing the next steps quickly. Quickly imagining countless mana strings attached to the bow string and my arm, I pulled back with all my strength before releasing and unsummoning the bow.
I saved about ten percent more mana, so I had twenty left, I wasn’t going to use up the rest.
~~~
I fell into a rhythm of this crazy elf’s attacks and got used to it, I had enough room to look around the field. I was hoping that that asshole would get over here already.
-Dammit Kora, you had to pick a worst time!-
-Just get over here you dumb bitch-
-I can’t wait to go home, I’m so glad your dumb boyfriend died-
-Y-you, he’s not my boyfriend!-
-Shut up, we are leaving this horrible place, sit there and don’t die-
I let out a sigh of relief, Opro had to go home, Nova died, everything is falling apart, what’s worst is that I had to swallow my shame and get help from her. I just had to fight with some crazy frost elves as my last adventure and be useless.
I’m dreading the look mother and father would give me, and the nagging my stupid sister would bark.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Finally in the distance I saw my sister coming and being chased by an elf, once she took me, we would be going home, at least it’s better than dying.
phik
I was momentarily stunned and got hit a few more times as a result. Something hit my sister, making her stumble before the elf caught up to her.
It looked like the elf was trying his hardest to stop her from running now.
I’m doomed.
~~~
I felt much more sluggish after firing that arrow, but regardless, this was war and I had to keep fighting, Aveeno looked like she was getting tired.
I quickly ran over and helped her, although I kept calling out to her, she didn’t listen to me and kept fighting with a silly grin on her face.
Shrugging I just supported her from behind.
“Shit, fuck, is this how I am going to die?”
I raised my eyebrow as I raised my middle finger.
The armored knight then kept silent, focusing on fighting and ignoring me.
I successfully removed her will to live, I think.
The two of them were a lot better and fiercer than I was, but I occasionally had good strikes.
We slowly wore her down, breaking her armor piece by piece. First it was the shoulder guard, then her shins, she had a very tight defend and it was hard to hit any exposed spots, but I knew she was getting tired fast.
After I feinted for the thirteenth time, Aveeno had the opportunity to slit her ankles, rendering her immobile.
“Yes~!” Aveeno shouted before becoming invigorated and attacking even more aggressively. So much in fact I could no longer see any opportunities to help her.
Well, I did have opportunities but that meant using my mana to shoot and I was already low.
Instead I focused on the warrior that was two feet away from… me…
She immediately knocked me unconscious.
~~~
”Sis you’re finally here! Did you take your time on purpose?”
“Shut up Kora, I’m making you pay for that scroll I used!”
After hauling the elf onto her shoulder, she rushed to fight the elf who was fighting me. She also quickly knocked her unconscious but before she could grab her, the elf’s body turned into a block of ice.
“Dammit, let’s just go!”
“I-I can’t let me drink a potion real quick!”
I quickly opened my bag and took out a small bowl of crimson liquid. Pouring a few drops on my ankle, I drank the rest.
“Of course, take your time, it’s not like we are in a battlefield surrounded by frost elves!”
After a few moments, the potion finally kicked in and healed my wound, but not fast enough before the elf that was chasing her before got free and nearly caught up.
Sis gritted her teeth. “Take him, go west, I’ll protect you.” And shoved the unconscious elf to me.
God, she was still thinking of earning money even though she is supposed to keep me safe.
I hauled the elf on my shoulder, he was oddly light, and ran.
Within the battlefield, countless people and elves were fighting, from what I saw, most of the elves were getting saved when they lost.
I couldn’t help but feel like there was a target on my back now.
“Lep lem jar!”
Behind me I felt immense pressure, I could barely breathe.
“We are still fighting, Savage.” A man appeared above me, he was buff and had a mane around his head wearing red leggings and shirtless. It was Sir Lionbreaker!
With this man, I felt even more assured I could survive, I didn’t know where my sister was, she still fighting the elf previously, but I didn’t hesitate to abandon her.
A large clash occurred behind me, sometimes large shards of ice crashed near me, making me jump.
After what felt like years, I finally made it out of the snow field and entered the covers of the trees.
I didn’t pause to take a break though; I was not going to stop running until I made it back to camp.
As I followed the familiar trails and markings, I neared the camp, but before I ran into an outpost, a net flung from the snow and captured me.
“Who is there! I’ll let you know I am part of the alliance guild and is part of a raid! Release me before one of the leaders find us!”
Keeping my cool, I knew this was a human trap, those Savages wouldn’t pull something like this off and so close to camp too.
“I went digging for copper and found gold. Not only did I get a frost elf, but I also caught you, Kora.”
A fat man surrounded by armed adventurers approached the trap.
“Tilbert? What is the meaning of this!”
“Remember when you and your sister humiliated me? At the guild hall?”
I was angry. “I didn’t humiliate you! That was my sister, take it out on her instead!”
“Unfortunately, I cannot deal with C-ranks but as her sister, you will be the shame that taints her name.” With that, he snapped his fingers, the female adventures captured Kora while the males dealt with the frost elf.
My face burned red with shame and anger as they stripped me of my space pouch, weapons, armor and clothes before making me wear rags.
“Interesting, you are an elf, wonderful, I think there’s a market for your kind.”
I paled. “Don’t you dare! I’ll have you know I am the fourth daughter of the Venheart aristocratic family!”
“You may be, but would anyone recognize you?” He slowly smiled as a chill crept up my spine.
“Clare.”
One of the female adventures walked up, her face sweating and nervous.
She whispered to me. “Sorry” before heating up her gauntlet.
I screamed as the metal burned me, melted my face, boiled my blood. A few times there was respite, cold red liquid healed my face before it began burning once more.
Soon, I couldn’t see through one of my eyes, the pain unending.
I blacked out.
