The question asked by Danica and Eve lingered in the air, both waiting on Rex to answer. Even Sebastian was looking towards Rex, the other man was apparently further ahead than the old vampire on his path to enlightenment. The trio waited for a few minutes longer as Rex remained motionless, mana enveloping him in it's liquid state like a fme, swaying one way or another. Sometimes the liquid mana would abruptly shudder or change shapes oddly to forms resembling dragons and whatnot.
Another ten or so minutes ter, the mana suddenly expanded, forming a perfectly round ball around Rex, changing it's colour to blood red, obscuring the inside, hiding Rex from their sight. Then, another ten minutes ter, the ball dissolved once again, revealing Rex, though this time he looked different. His general looks had not changed much, the height remaining the same, much like his face, though he was now way more muscur, the power coursing through his veins apparent on sight. Danica clearly liked what she saw, causing her to bite her lip pyfully.
When Rex finally opened his eyes though, that was when the most obvious change came into view. The trio were looking into eyes of foreign origin for sure. Pitch bck sclera and both pupil and iris were bright yellow, almost glowing. The way he looked at them felt as if though he could see through their very being, analyzing the smallest detail about them. Both Danica and Eve left a slight shudder pas through their bodies, but only for the very first moment, the still familiar face and the gentle smile on said face immediately bringing them out of the feeling.
"Are you okay?" both rushed over the next moment, hugging him with worry, gazing in his eyes, waiting for his answer and looking for the slightest hint of a lie should he be telling one.
"So it did work then? The eyes. Bck like the abyss with glowing yellow pupil and iris, yes?"
"Yup? What worked?"
"To answer it all in the correct order, I have to start with the first question. What happened. The world has just achieved a great breakthrough, reaching another major breakpoint when it comes to concepts. I believe in the next few thousand years there will start to appear LORD candidates of space and time. It is because of this breakthrough that I can finally also connect this small soul fragment with the rest of my soul, allowing me to synchronize them. Thus the eyes and the change. This is how I look in my full glory."
"Wait wait wait! back up a bit. The rest of your soul? expin please?" Danica looked confused, reasonably so as well.
"It's a whole process to facilitate my growth. Basically I can now be in two pces at once. Here and there."
"And where is there? Another continent? Would make so much sense though. You always seemed way too much for a barely twenty year old."
"Well, technically, I am barely a twenty year old. Period. And no. not another continent. Regardless, the pce cannot be reached right now. Though there are some insanely good news that I can share with you my lovelies." Rex grinned as he kissed Danica and then Eve on their heads, still hugging them.
"And that would be?" Eve asked.
"Wari and Sidsal can now start on developing their flock. Any pce we have visited so far? Is just a flick a way and I can now easily form constructs for when we need to fly anywhere new." he spoke and grinned, earning a pleased and happy smiles on the girls faces and once again a bulging eyes on Sebastian's face, the older man already understanding the implications.
"I-is it one of the fields you are a candidate in?" he slightly stammered as he asked, still trying to regain his composure.
"Indeed, though I am still behind in that particur subject when compared with the one that is my inherent talent. That however, will remain a secret for now. I sense a couple of other elves approaching." Rex replied, his gaze not even leaving Sebastian.
"Tia!" a few moments ter excimed Emanai, happy to see the woman.
"As ordered, I have arrived, young mistress. And greetings to you as well miss Pyra." she curtsied towards Emanai first, her grace and skill oozing as she performed the action, repeating another one , though slightly shallower towards Pyra. Then she turned towards sebastian and performed a curtsy simir to the one she performed for Pyra. "Grand elder." she greeted politely.
"Where is Feliandra?" Emanai asked calmly.
"She will arrive shortly. She was out purchasing some groceries when your order arrived. I rushed here immediately and sent a messenger to retrieve her post haste." expined Tia in a calm and professional manner.
"How should I address these honourable guests mistress?" she then asked as she turned calmly towards Rex and his girls.
"With utmost respect and reverence." spoke up Sebastian this time. "You are standing before a true LORD candidate." That changed the demeanor of the pce in seconds, both Tia and the other few maids that had arrived with her, fell to their knees instantly.
"Our apologies for our rude conduct your eminence. Please shows us mercy. If need be, punish me for our transgression."
"Oi, Pyra, Emanai. The fuck is this?" Rex asked with a raised brow and a finger pointed towards the kneeling maids, clearly confused. And, judging from the expressions of the sisters, they too had no fucking idea. "Fine. Tia was it?"
"Yes your excellence?"
"Firstly, the name's Rex. Secondly, get up and expin what this is about. It seems like a PTSD of sorts."
"PTSD?" Tia cautiously asked, though nonetheless rising to her feet. If a LORD candidate told you to do something, one obeyed.
"Post -traumatic stress disorder." Rex expined, a general understanding instantly appearing in the maids eyes.
"It is something simir sir. Around four hundred years ago an incident happened back in the elven capital involving another candidate. I remember scarcely little, though the training we all went through afterwards is still vividly in my mind."
"Oh. Yea, there should be no issues so long as none of the people here try to assassinate any of the people I have come to like. Abide by that and we we no problems."
"Understood sir." Tia bowed as she confirmed, just as another elven maid rushed over, her breath slightly uneven, though she quickly regained her calm and with but a single gnce towards Tia and the rest of the maids, she knelt before Rex.
"this lowly ones name is Feliandra. May I show respect to my masters?"
"Go ahead." Rex sighed exasperatedly and she quickly rose and curtsied in a simir manner to that of Tia, both to Emanai, Pyra and Sebastian, then before she managed to get back to the kneeling position she was in before, Rex stopped her.
"No more kneeling now." he then looked towards Emanai. "Do your thing before more people come over to kneel or something."
"R-right. Sorry Rex."Emanai apologized, turning her head towards Feliandra. "Feliandra. You are to serve Rex as his personal maid from today onwards. It is his reward for saving my life in the proving grounds I was sent to."
"Understood my dy. Your wish has been heard and will be done." she then turned towards Rex "Is there anything I can do for you right now master?"
"Not right now, though come closer."
With his order, Feliandra did as told, stopping just a hands reach away from him. Rex stretched out his hand and soul branded her without any issues whatsoever. Then, like a simple party trick, an orb of blood formed in his hand, quickly changing it's form to something awfully simir to Snek, though much more mechanical in its shape. With a mental comand, the small creature lept of his hand, expanding rapidly in the air, nding on the ground just a second or so ter as a rge, six or so meter long construct, radiating the power of a peak A rank creature.
"That will do. Change to form two." Rex spoke and the construct quickly shrunk back down, leaping into air at the st second and changing form. Another second ter, Rex held a beatiful, scarlet red bracelet in his hand, handing it to Feliandra.
"Since you are mine now, wear it at all times. That construct will protect you."
Eve and Danica did not look even phased, Rex's antics having desensitized them mostly by now. Pyra and Emanai were staring at Rex dumbfounded, though the most weird expression was on Sebastian's face.
"Rex? Sir? Are you perchance in need of a butler maybee? If so, I would be more than happy to offer my own services if only I could ask for a construct of simir build as Feliandra.I guarantee I am more than qualified."
"What the hell?" Pyra cried out at the way Sebastian spoke. "Have some self respect old bat! You are an elder of the inner courtyard of the Dawning Sun sect for fucks sake!"
"And so WHAT? Dawning Sun sect, hell I doubt the entire vampire race does not have a man of such high skill in blood magic! I would be willing to lick his shoes clean if it allowed me to study and ponder on a simir construct. The possibilities are endless. Hell, I might even solve the hundred questions I have been stuck on the familiar magics. Maybee even solve those damn thirst bouts I experience more and more as I age. What's a bit of honor or pride in face of THAT? Hell, what all of it in face of such a possibility."
"There is actually something I could have you do for me Sebastian." Rex smirked as she created a small talisman of sorts of the same blood red colour. "I want you to acquire a property for me in the elven nds. The closer to capital the better. A mansion if you would. Then staff it with elven maids and have Feliandra train them to meet the standards of the noble families. I have a half elf that needs to metaphorically sp some pompous elven pride." as he spoke, he created another, pitch bck orb in his other hand "Once that is done, break this bck or in said mansion. And you get this as a reward for your efforts" Rex stretched out his hand and handed the talisman over to Sebastian, who, upon taking said talisman in hand momentarily froze, just seconds ter looking at Rex like a deity of sorts. "If you agree, press the talisman against your skin, it will dissolve and become yours so no one else could ever hope to steal it."
Rex had barely said it when Sebastian did precisely that, the talisman disappearing as a result. Then, the older man bowed deeply. "Your wish is my command master. I shall depart at once to fulfill your needs." he spoke extending his hands where Rex pced the bck orb.
"Don't forget to keep in touch and teach Pyra and Emanai. They are your direct disciples after all. And there is no need for you to drop the sect either. They have not done anything untowards against me or mind so far."
"As you wish." Sebastian bowed once more.
Suddenly, Rex gnced in a randomly different direction again for a moment, humming as he thought something.
"Girls, I am being called over for some time. Would you like to stay here with Pyra and Emanai or do you want me to send you back home to Solendeil? Ria no doubt is missing you."
"This pce is huge. We don't mind messing around here." grinned Danica, a mischief clearly on her mind.
"I agree with her. I could use this opportunity to get some goodwill and benefits for my nation as well. I am still a princess after all." agreed Eve.
"All right. Have fun girls. I will soon be back." Rex replied, creating a few dozen constructs and leaving them with the two girls. "They will listen to your commands. Use them as you will. All of them are peak A ranks."
"Thanks love. Have fun." Danica quickly stole a kiss from his lips, followed by Eve, the two women trusting Rex wholeheartedly. Then, as if no longer resisting a pull, Rex disappeared.
--------------------------------------------
In a pce far, far away from the continent where Rex had just been spirited away, more and more powerful and ancient individuals appeared out of nowhere. The pce seemed like a barren, yet mysterious pce that nevertheless radiated plenty of life energy, sensible for those that were capable enough. In the very center around which all these powerful individuals were appearing stood a cradle of sorts, all manner of clearly extremely precious and insanely rare herbs grew. And, as these powerful individuals arrived, all their attention was directed towards said cradle, their gazes locked on the entity sitting there. The cradle, or perhaps a throne would be a more apt name for it, made said entity to look regal like no ruler could ever hope to achieve, radiating both mysterious power and unspoken authority.
All but a single individual was locked in their reverence towards said entity. Rex, as said single unphased creature, looked around after registering the being on the throne. He calmly observed all the other creatures called here, no doubt each and every one of them a LORD candidate. He was well aware by now that the title referred to those that had not only stared, but walked far enough on the path of concept comprehension, thus making them eligible for the positions of this worlds gods once it grows far enough. And, judging by their presence here at this moment, the world itself seemed to believe it to be the time, something Rex was not so much in agreement with, though he kept said thoughts to himself for now.
As he looked around, he could see plenty of powerful creatures gathered, almost each and every one towering above him. Numerous massive dragons were all around him, each more impressive than the st as the space itself seemed to distort ever so slightly around them all, the concept they had been comprehending morphing the reality itself. Yet another reason Rex believed it was far too soon for the gods to rise. He could sense the ck of skill and precision from all those creatures around him, for he too could now allow the same reality warping thing to happen around him and his could easily tear holes in the very fabric of this world, inviting all manner of eldritch creatures inside.
Dragons however, while the vast majority, were not the only ones present, him excluded of course. He also noticed a few other monster races. A single mia was carefully and vigintly eyeing her own surroundings, keeping her distance from all those enormous dragons. her own concept reality bending happening around her, no doubt hopefully warding the dragons off. Then there was a ginormous turtle further away, though easily noticeable do to it's massive size even when compared to the dragons themselves. His soul even picked up on a cm of all things, no rger than the size of a football ball, sand swirling all around it, obscuring it's true form and protecting it from other creatures present. And seeing how the mia was eyeing the whirlwind of sand, Rex assumed she too was a candidate of a simir concept, if not the same.
'Not that surprising.' Rex mused in his mind, not noticing any humanoids besides the mia in this collection of powerful beings. There was after all the thing called lifespan that crippled most humanoid races in their pursuit of infinite knowledge. Even the ones with the longer life spans like elves were nothing more than fleeting dust before the might and longevity of dragons. The fact that there were being other than dragons here at all was quite an interesting turn of events, clearly a form of luck for them to be alive and at their peak at this time.
"Greetings, my children." a soothing, yet authoritative and calm voice resounded throughout the field, each and every one present hearing it clearly, as if being spoken to telepathically.
"I have just woken up from yet another growth spurt and I do believe it is time to appoint the caretakers and protectors of different aspects of reality. To watch over them, nurture and see them grow and develop, further strengthening us against all would be invaders that want to do us harm." Rex could feel the slightest gnce in his direction as those words resounded. 'What was that now?' he though as he listened 'Am I supposed to be the invader meaning harm? Very well then, I don't mind pying the bad cop, though I expect to be compensated for my effort.' he came to a conclusion, though at that very moment a thought was born in his head, one he would call ingenious.
'Very well then. I suppose I will just have to show just how unprepared this pce is for what you have decided to do.' Rex thought as he looked towards the humanoid form dragon girl, apparently no older than thirteen or something, saying those words as she sat on the throne.
"It is why I have called you all here after all. A pce for all of you to come to an agreement of who would become said protectors, taking the positions of the LORDS that you all no doubt are aware of, a concept created by me to spread the idea around the mortal races. Why you do that is of no concern, be it combat, discussion or any other method. I shall await the results here."
'Could you have helped me even more?' Rex almost ughed as he heard the primordial god of this world speak, and the moment she was done, he ughed loudly, earning the attention of all the beings present, most of them filled with disgust and revulsion at his presence here.
