Apparently, the Academy has more than one pokemon tournament.
In the games, the Academy had a tournament called the Academy Aces Tournament, which had the strongest trainers in the region face off against each other. I used to do that all the time for the Experience.
However, apparently there were more, as the Academy Staff just asked me if I'd like to join the Rising Stars Tournament. Of course, it'd be a valuable experience, so I said yes.
Apparently, someone else had also entered.
Enter Juliana, the Female Protagonist and mostly portrayed as the protagonist in Pokemon Scarlet. She didn't seem to have Koraidon with her, but she would still be a force to be reckoned with.
She was in the entirely opposite bracket of me, so I managed to breeze through to the finals easily, as did she.
And now, we faced off.
Juliana sent out her first pokemon: A Tinkaton named Pixie. Meanwhile I sent out Shine the Garganacl.
'Pixie, use Gigaton Hammer and swing it all round!'
'Shine, back off and use Salt Cure!'
Garganacl managed to barely avoid the attack and nded the Salt Cure.
'That won't stop us! Use Brick Break!'
'Shine, tank it and use Earthquake!'
Shine had the ability Sturdy, so I wasn't too worried.
Earthquake managed to knock Pixie out, and I had the lead.
'Go, Lycan!'
A Dusk Mane Lycanroc. This thing would have own tempo, which was quick annooying. However, I didn't think much of it until...
'Lycan, use Trailbze!'
'Shine, move to the left!'
Shine tried to dodge, but was swiftly defeated by a tough cws boosted Trailbze.
'Go, Grudgefist!'
I had recently evolved Grudgefist into an Annihipe, so I should be safe.
'Lycan, use Bite!'
'Grudgefist, use Close Combat!'
Lycan became faster after using Trailbze, but Grudgefist was tanky as hell, so Lycan was swiftly defeated.
'It's come to this, huh. Let me show you something cool from where I came from! Go, Phoenix!'
A bird, covered in purple feathers and seemingly flying through sheer willpower appeared. I knew it all too well.
Garian Articuno, one of the three Garian birds.
How did she manage to get this? I have no idea. However, one thing was clear.
I needed to go all out.
'Retreat, Grudgefist! Come on out, Excalibur!'
One thing i realised after training with Excalibur is that the Sword of Ruin ability worked quite differently from the games.
The entire field became covered in ice as the Treasure of Ruin stepped onto the field.
The stadium grew silent as everyone watched this battle of beasts.
'Excalibur, activate the Sword of Ruin.'
'Phoenix, activate Pressure!'
Apparently Pressure worked differently here too. Or maybe it was all the legendaries' abilities.
In an instant, it felt like my body would be crushed by fear. However, giant swords of ice surrounded Excalibur, reminding me that it was a showdown between beasts.
What happened next was instant, and yet it felt so long.
Swiftly, without our directions, they began fighting. Icicle Spears came raining down everywhere as Freezing Gres made everything freeze. The Swords quickly chased after Phoenix only to be destroyed by Pressure.
And then, Excalibur used its Ace in the Hole. Ruination.
Ruination was far more powerful here than in the games. It worked by using the Treasures of Ruin, and it was extremely powerful.
In an instant, chains tied around Phoenix, bringing it to the ground. In the next, a giant sword made of ice and surrounded with darkness appeared above Phoenix. In an instant, it was over.
The only drawback of Ruination was that it left the user extremely vulnerable. It left them unable to move for 10 seconds and also prevented them from using the Treasure of Ruin for a day. It might be different for others, but this was the case for Excalibur.
The Bird had no chance.
'And the Winner is... Tairou!'
After that, Juliana came up to shake my hand.
'You found that at the Icerend Shrine, didn't you.'
Those words shook me.
'How did you know?'
'Follow me.'
I followed Juliana to the History cssroom, where she went to the teacher's desk and dialed 666.
'Show me the hidden treasures.'
The desk suddenly moved aside, revealing a hidden staircase.
'This is the Legendary Society. Welcome in.'
Inside were a bunch of people. Some were checking research notes, while other fiddling around with their maps.
'We deal with capturing and researching legendary pokemon. Currently, the only ones who have actually caught a legendary pokemon are me, you and the President.'
'The President? Who's that?'
'The President is one of the most powerful pokemon trainers, and came to Uva Academy as a transfer student. His pokemon is a Paradox Suicune he found on an expedition one day.'
'i see. So, how did you know that Excalibur was from the Icerend Shrine?'
She sighed.
'Well, you see, we were dispatched to capture the Sword of Ruin, but when we got there, all we could find was you. So we called a Flying Taxi to somewhere near you, and had him pick you to a hospital. However, I assure you only the President might have known that it would look like that.'
'So? Why did you bring me here?'
'In fact, we'd like to ask you to accept this.'
She handed me a blue scroll, with Maelstrom insignas all around it. I recognised it immediately.
'So? Where did you get this?'
'Well, we found it in a building in Gar, which is where I live. However, according to the Master of the Dojo nearby, the pokemon who used it to evolve had went to Paldea with a student of the Dojo to train. The student was instructed to bring anyone who found and defeated him to the Dojo. However, we haven't found him yet. The only clue we got was that he was waiting on a prism of gss.'
I knew where that was. However, I had to be careful.
That was the Area 0 station, which was normally off bounds. No wonder nobody found him.
Armed with this knowledge, I went to the Great Crater.
It was a lot of trouble climbing up the mountain, but luckily I had Shine to help me. Unlike the game, I could hitch a ride on Shine and ask it to climb up. Saved me a lot of trouble.
Using the Rotom Phone as a parachute, I jumped down to the Prism, where I expected Avery or Kra to wait for me. However, I did not forsee this new development.
Victor, Champion of Gar and protagonist of Sword and Shield.
From newspapers I read occasionally, I knew that he had become champion a year prior. This would be difficult.
'So, have you come to challenge me?'
'Of course!'
I prepared myself for the battle of a lifetime.
