Chapter 35) Burned, almost drowned, and punched

As we walk, we maneuver over many pieces of colpsed buildings.

They are very old, but some look intact and almost brand new. Probably something to do with magic.

Eventually we find a spot for Serne and me to rest, although neither of us physically needs it. Mentally we need a break though.

4 buildings colpsed on me, but I got out fine.

Serne was worried the whole time that I would colpse a structure on him, I thought it wouldn’t happen, but it did.

I colpsed an entire stone statue depicting an ancient likely heroic figure, directly on Serne.

He was covered in rubble, but I used the strength I gave myself a day ago to get him out.

That’s the main reason we rest now.

“So…” I begin, “can I test your clothes now.”

He shakes his head and says “no.”

I look at him and say, “why not? It’s a simple and easy request!”

  “It’s embarrassing” he mumbles.

How is it embarrassing? Is he afraid that with my literal god-like strength that I’ll shove him into the stratosphere?

Or is he afraid of his enchants failing.

“We’ve got nothing better to do!” I say to him.

With a defeated sigh, he says “fine”, but then he unexpectedly starts taking off his clothes.

  What is he doing?

“What?” I ask him while he’s halfway through unbuttoning his shirt.

He looks a bit confused, we’re both kind of flustered. “I’m letting you try them on” he says.

“What?!” I ask again in confusion.

Why does he think I want to try on his clothes?

  I mean, I might.

  But not right now.

“No” I yell, “I wanted you to test them while they’re on you!”

My fur may be red, but if I had none, I’d probably look like redder than I do now.

Serne looks at me and says, “ohh.”

He starts rebuttoning his shirt and then clears his throat, “ahem, we can test my clothes now.”

We spend the next few minutes going over various enchantments.

When pushing him, as long as I use a mortal amount of strength, he does not topple.

When I pushed him initially, he flew into a building, causing it to crumble and colpse.

He was annoyed but he’ll get over it.

There was also an enchant for waterproof, which I tested by pouring water on him.

It did work, until I poured around two olympic sized swimming pools worth of water on him.

  He was soaked then.

We tested the fireproof enchants next, he was initially apprehensive, but I burned him anyway.

What? It’s not like he would burn, he’s immortal!

Except his fur apparently doesn’t count in that.

He was covered in burnt fur.

  The clothes were fine though.

After cleaning using my powers to clean him, and causing his fur to completely regrow, we went back to walking.

There’s an awkward silence between us, probably because what I did would’ve killed him thrice if he wasn’t immortal.

“So…” I say, “have you thought of a wish?”

He pauses and then shakes his head, “kind of, I have it narrowed down to necessity, want, and obligation.”

I don’t know what that means, so I stare and gesture for continuance on these ideas.

“Well, for what I need, I think I want you to fix my life to the best of your ability, put me back and fix it all.”

  I nod.

He continues, “for want, I would want you to remove my memories of the past 6 months. But I won’t wish for that… for obvious reasons.”

  Hmm?

  What reasons?

  Obvious ones?

  What reasons?!?

Is this an insult? A reference to his situation?

He talks again, “and for obligation, I would use my wish to advise you. I feel that I may be the only person to talk sense into you, or prevent you from destroying another pnet.”

  Hmmm…

Does he really think I’m so reckless to destroy a pnet?

Well I did destroy one on accident, but that was when I was new to this power!

Not to mention it was 7 or 8 years ago!

Or is it that he wants to impose his will upon me?

  Maybe a mix of both?

I ask him, “and have you decided on a specific wish yet?”

He answers, “as I said, no.”

He’s indecisive between his obligations to those he cares about, himself, and the word. Or at least what he predicts may happen.

Not like I would destroy another pnet on a whim, I have more self-control.

If I do destroy another pnet, it will be on purpose.

  So Serne is torn.

I could just clear this up and grant all 3.

The first two I feel I owe it to him regardless. I should fix his life, and remove the memories from his mind.

I look at Serne and smile, “I’ll grant all 3.”

He continues looking forward, “I kind of expected that.”

  He did?

Can he read my mind as well as Elowyn?

Probably neither of them can, but maybe Serne’s legs can.

  They are very very talented.

Serne shifts to a contemptive look and then speaks, “don’t grant the second wish for now.”

  Hmmm?

  I ask him, “why?”

He responds slowly after a short pause, “It’s because… I’m worried that you may do it wrong and destroy a piece of me.”

  That is a concern.

One that I hadn’t really thought of.

Although, I really should have. Am I becoming zy and dumb due to having power?

Another question to add to my long list of questions.

When I tried making myself intelligent a while ago, that did remove my memories.

But I think I’m more skilled now, I did it fine with Aster.

  Should be fine.

I ask in response, “are you worried that I’ll throw you into space?”

He looks hesitant, but nods anyway.
