Chapter Twelve: Mu Shao's Gift
As she watched the figure disappear into the distance, a refined and elegant figure suddenly flashed through Su Nianqing's mind. The two figures overlapped, and she suddenly came back to her senses, turning her head to look at the man with a pale face opposite her, "Si Han, was that Mu Shao just now from the Mu family?"
Just then the waiter brought up a cold dish, and seeing that the man opposite him only hummed softly, Su Nianqing turned to look at the waiter, "Which young master of the Mu family is this?"
As far as she knew, the Mu family had a vast network of connections. There were many young masters in the Mu family alone, so would this Mu Shao be the one who helped her at the airport, Mu Yichen?
"Doesn't Miss Su know that there's only one Mu Shao in the Mu family?" The waiter smiled as he looked at her, seeing her shake her head, and continued to explain: "The young master who just went in is the youngest grandson of Old Master Mu, Mu Yichen, ranked seventh. The other few young masters are slightly older, we all address them as Mr. Mu, while younger generations call them Da Shao Er Shao. Mu Shao is a title exclusive to Mu Yichen."
"So it was like this." She indeed didn't misjudge!
After listening to the waiter's explanation, she seemed to have a slightly better understanding of the relationship. She nodded her head in thanks and turned to look at the man opposite her who was indifferent and uninterested, "Si Han, do you know Mu Yi?"
"Mm." The man across from him picked up his cup and responded faintly, without explaining what their relationship was.
She saw that he didn't want to say more, so she bit her lip and turned to look at the waiter who had already served the dishes. She was about to ask a few more questions, but when she glanced at the man opposite her with an unpleasant expression, she moved her lips and finally put her thoughts away, considerately serving him instead.
It's always possible to express gratitude, but what's rare is that they come out together for a meal, a date outside of work, and she doesn't want this thing to get mixed up.
While eating, the two didn't say much. Just as Su Nianqing was hesitating about whether to mention the marriage to him, a hotel waiter pushed a cart over and respectfully handed over a bottle of wine from the rack. Su Nianqing was taken aback, put down his fork, looked up at the blond foreigner beside him, and caught sight of the badge on his chest - it turned out he was a sommelier from Meiwu River.
She blinked and smiled somewhat awkwardly, "It seems we haven't ordered red wine."
"Mr. Chu, Miss Su, this is Mu Shao's intention." The sommelier replied to her question in not-so-standard Chinese.
"But the dishes we have today don't really go well with red wine." She glanced at the wine barrel, where the red wine had already awakened, its rich aroma wafting up to her nose. The label on the bottle was facing her, and it also caught her eye - a 1969 vintage wine, with a price to match.
It seemed that the sommelier had noticed her doubts, and carefully explained to her, "This is Robert Mondavi Winery Napa Valley Fume Blanc. During fermentation, it was partially fermented in barrels with added Semillon grapes. The resulting wine pairs well with today's two dishes, so you don't have to worry about confusing the flavors and losing the original taste of the wine and the cuisine."
Su Nianqing subconsciously turned her head to look at the man opposite, and smiled lightly, "Mu Shao's intention is for you, isn't it? Mr. Chu, would you do me the honor?"
She and Mu Yi Chen don't seem familiar enough to give such an expensive wine, but judging from Chu Si Han's expression, he doesn't seem too satisfied.
She raised an eyebrow, Chu Si's cold eyes gleamed with a chill as he glanced at her, "Since it's his heart's desire, then keep it!"
"Alright, I'll listen!" Having obtained his permission, she smiled softly and turned to the servant beside her, "Trouble me by getting paper and pen for me!"
After the waiter left, she turned her head to look at the sommelier who was helping them with their wine, enjoying the treatment of a noble guest in the hotel. She narrowed her eyes comfortably and asked in pure English: "May I ask what dishes Mr. Mu ordered today?"
The sommelier furrowed his brow and thought for a moment before responding with an official answer: "Today, Mr. Mu's dishes are all light flavors."
He said that, which reminded Su Nianqing that it was not long after the Spring Festival, and everyone must have been scared by the big fish and meat. A light dish is a good choice. The large group of people who came here just now should be dining rather than entertaining.
She took the notebook and pen from the waiter, wrote a few words of thanks and apology on the paper, and handed it to the sommelier, "Would you please send the bottle of 1979 La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay that I have stored in the wine cellar to Mr. Mu, and also give this to him! Thank you!"
The sommelier took over the bill, a hint of surprise flashed across his amber-colored eyes, and then quickly regained his composure, nodding and leading the waiter away.
As she turned around, her eyes met Chus's profound gaze, and his eyes seemed to hold a depth that was hard to fathom.
She felt a bit embarrassed being stared at by him, her face slightly red, she shyly lowered her head and nervously changed the subject, "Don't look at me, the dishes are getting cold!"
She pushed the wine glass in front of him, and only then did she explain to him the reason for sending the wine: "When Grandpa was hospitalized, my brother called me to come back, at that time it happened to be during the two sessions when tickets were hard to book, it was Mu Shao who helped me, I just wanted to express my gratitude, nothing else."
She simply explained the reason why she did this, fearing that he would misunderstand and hurriedly defend herself. The response she got was just a faint "uh-huh", with an indifferent face that seemed to not take the matter seriously at all.
She didn't ask much when she saw him, and she also breathed a sigh of relief, adjusting her mood to enjoy this delicious lunch.
The Mayor's Wife
After the waiter brought up the dishes, the sommelier also came in with a bottle of wine from the wine cellar. Looking at him holding the wine bottle, Mu Yichen's handsome face had a momentary astonishment. Just as he was about to speak, his friend Jiang Shiye chimed in and spoke for him in a Beijing accent that couldn't hide his spoiled rich kid tone: "Hey, isn't this the wine that Young Master Mu just sent out? What, nobody wanted it?"
The sommelier apparently didn't quite understand the meaning of his words, walked to Mu Yichen's side, and respectfully handed over the wine, "Young Master Mu, this is the wine sent by Miss Su, and this is what she gave you." As he said that, he pulled out the note that was just written.
As soon as the sommelier spoke, the crowd of onlookers around him looked at the man on the main seat with curious eyes, and everyone's eyes were filled with strong interest.
"Thanks for your help at the airport, sorry to have caused you trouble with the meeting!"
Looking at the neat handwriting on the note, Qingyan's handsome face subtly narrowed his eyes, and the corners of his eyebrows seemed to be holding a faint smile.
