Prologue-The Profecy

The Old Crone spoke and with her dying breath she cursed the world. Driven by bitterness and despair she said thus, "Kingdoms will rise and fall, the world will stagnate, war and strife will run rampant, and the Gods shall not interfere, for they have done much to prevent progress and keep their rule over the world but no longer, one day the Gods will be betrayed, and they will bless a champion and that champions goal shall be to burn the tree of the Gods and banish them from this realm for they have let this world become fat and overripe with their corruption and rule". Then she died by hand of a God who she doomed with her words.

Thus, the Gods were divided for some were tired of the monotony of the world and supported the prophecy of despair and others opposed it and they went to war, fighting each other over the last scraps of the world that were untamed in order to gain more power, until the God of Games proposed a plan to rest of the Gods, and out of his own hubris declared, "Let us entertain the notions of this foolish mortal who dared to disrespect us, and let Us make a game out of what is to come". "And how shall we do that Brother" asked the God of Judgement. "We shall rule from afar and field champions and kings to fight in our stead and give them gifts in order to further our goals and rule". "But how shall we keep this fair without destroying the world" asked a Goddess, and the God of Games responded by saying "We shall keep our involvement to a minimum and impart one gift to each of our champions that is reasonable and doesn't give mortals too much power".

The Gods were in agreement then, even the Ones who supported the prophecy for they had all given in to greed and cared little for the tribulations of mortals and they fielded their champions. Unbeknownst to them they had already been enacting the prophecies will.
