Faded engraving:
“First Expeditionary Unit – Disappeared and Unrecorded.”
Rumo (quietly):
“So… someone was here before us.”
Levan examines the mask in silence, then hands it back to Ena.
They find a small notebook inside an old steel cabinet.
Ena reads:
“Internal Report – First Expedition
Mission: Observe energetic anomalies
Final entry: ‘Signs started appearing… then no one could sleep.’”
Levan looks up at the wall…
Strange scratches cover the corners.
They come across a door that reads:
“Delayed Reception Room – Do Not Use.”
Inside: a nearly empty room, a broken mirror, and a wall message written in charcoal:
“They were watching us… from the inside.”
Rumo (uneasy):
Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
“Is this… a log? Or a warning?”
Their tracking device flashes… then goes completely dark.
Ena:
“Why? The area has stable energy!”
Rumo:
“Someone shut it down… or something did.”
Levan (calmly):
“We’re not being monitored anymore… we’re alone.”
A faint tapping—three knocks—repeats behind the wall.
Rumo approaches:
“There’s something… back here.”
Nothing opens…
But a small section of wall collapses, revealing a strange symbol.
A circular eye with tangled lines at the center.
Ena:
“I’ve seen this in a restricted book… primitive Tendency language.”
Rumo:
“It’s the root of something… but no one ever explained it.”
Levan (quietly):
“Maybe… no one wanted to.”
A large door reads:
“Zone D – Access for First Expedition Only.”
The door won’t budge.
Levan tries… no success.
Rumo:
“What’s behind this… isn’t meant for us.”
Ena:
“We either go back… or take the side path.”
Rumo:
“No one outside will believe us. Not like this.”
Levan:
“Then… we move forward.”
While advancing, part of the floor collapses.
Rumo falls again—though not far.
Levan quickly follows.
The walls below are different… made of stone, not metal.
Human carvings… then twisted into something else.
The team reunites shortly after.
Ena whispers:
“This isn’t part of the station… it’s something older.”
Rumo (staring):
“I feel like this place wasn’t discovered… it was deliberately forgotten.”
Levan says nothing.
But his eyes fix on the darkness, as if hearing something unspoken.
End of Chapter 12.
