I saw my future one night while staying with Noali, and since then, I refused to look back and tread that road. I avoided all the things that led me to that road. Including my nice demeanor behind. I had to, to survive in a testosterone-driven facility as well. I even spurned what could be a true relationship for a false one that led me to nothing but heartbreak, all to avoid my fate.
It was working. I was drifting farther and farther from that fate and deeper into another of my making. I knew I would probably never be happy with it as I would with my real fate, but I didn’t want the responsibility of Sapherine on my shoulders. I didn’t want to go crazy. I was afraid of the unknown! My brother had no idea what I had been through was going through! He had no place to judge!
He was my twin. He was supposed to respite me in whatever I chose! Yet he chose that girl! Why? I may have overstepped my boundaries by commanding Nero to leave him for the council, but I wasn’t wrong about the girl. She would be his downfall! I was trying to save him. Couldn’t he see that? That girl was nothing but trouble, but it seemed as if I was driving him away instead of helping him.
I should tell him what I saw and let him decide to be with her, but I can’t let my baby brother suffer on account of someone else! I walked over to Jonah, who was talking with Noali about something he saw in her thread. Did he see the same thing I saw? I forget he can see things too, with far more clarity than I sometimes.
“Sometimes the things we see are to spur us on to our correct path and not run from our destinies,” said Noali as she glared at me, and I lowered my head and shuffled closer to my brother.
“Jonah, may I speak with you?” I asked.
He sighed and nodded, walking farther into the cottage and towards a room. He stood arms crossed a frown on his face. “Talk,” he said.
I was glad for the privacy. What I had to tell him was better said without any interference.
“That girl you so heavily champion will be your downfall, brother,” I said.
He raked his hands through his hair and sighed. “ I know Datha. I saw it in the threads. That’s what I was asking Noali about.”
I smiled. “Then you understand…”
“No Datha, I don’t. Myra might be my downfall, but she’s also my friend. Not everything was shown in that vision, just my downfall and me protecting Myra. I don’t know the circumstances of that vision or what prompts me to give my life up for hers, cause you know I’m still pretty selfish and would think twice about such a thing,” he said, smirking.

I glared. “Her craziness is going to get you killed!
“Her craziness kind of saved me from what you’re becoming, Datha,” he said.
“And what’s that?” I asked, crossing my arms and tossing my braid.
“You know. I can’t believe you would hide yourself so deep because of a vision you saw. What scared you so badly, sis?”
“It’s none of your concern!”
He raised his hands in surrender and sighed. “You got it, but you better wisen up before you let what truly matters slip from your grasp, and I’m not talking about facing your destiny. I’ve seen things too, and sis? You're going to end up worse than you started if you don’t shape up,” he said, walking away.
I stalked back to my group, which I had left waiting outside the cottage. Nero glanced at me as if to ask if I was alright. He was the one who worried most about me, though he tried not to show it. His chocolate gaze conveyed so many unspoken things between us, but I let them rest. There was no room for them in my new future. Maybe once, but not anymore. I nodded and faced the group,p ignoring him.
“We can go back to the hideout. Our mission was a miss,” I said, and they groaned.
When my brother left, the others had nowhere to go and were hunted down by the council mercilessly until the alliance stepped in and guarded them and gave them each a place. Jason was not without mercy, but the alliance was racist against regular kin, and they all had a hard time of it. They were given to me as my team, and I cared for them like family. I watched their backs, and they watched mine.
“What do we do about them?” asked Pallas, pointing inside the cottage. I know he meant my brother more than that girl, although he had no respect towards either. For me, he’d tolerate Jonah. I thought about introducing Jonah to Jason and maybe separating him from that girl and her crazy mission. It was worth a shot, was it not?
“They’ll be coming to base with us,” I said, as my brother and that girl exited the cottage smiling. They turned to me, surprised at my announcement.
“We are?” asked that girl, and I sighed.
“As long as you can keep up with us,” I smirked and turned to face the others.
“Let’s go,” I said, and they turned around and started running. Let her keep up with Kin's speed. She was only human. It’d be impossible. My brother frowned and went to pick her up, but she refused. Silly human. I wouldn’t stop for her! We began at a grueling pace, and I smirked. Let her keep up with us now! One way or another, I was separating her from my brother.
Maybe if I showed him how crazy she could be, I could separate them? I had to try. I can’t remember what set her off last time, but I’m sure this pace would cause some strain on her. I could hope she was as frail as I thought her to be, and she broke down soon. That would show everyone what a joke she really was. I was a better savior than she, and I didn’t need her help. The alliance could handle the council.
Several hours later, she was lagging, and I decided to pick up the pace. The others followed me, but my brother stayed behind. I gritted my teeth and slowed the pace before stopping completely.
I watched as my brother took out a water bottle and handed it to that girl. She hugged him and drank with fervor. As soon as she was through with the water bottle, my brother put it back in his silk piece hanging around his waist. Then, after a slight shove from her, he picked her up.
“No arguments. You can’t go on like this, My,” he said, and she nodded, looping her arms around his neck. I ground my teeth. They were even closer now! I had to get him to the base.
I knew a few hybrids who would be interested in him, and one who was never refused. I smirked. Let them be close now. Once we got to base, she would lose her protector, and I could destroy her then. There wouldn’t be a savior, and my destiny would be completely altered.
