Chapter 3: Human Body Sketching

Looking at the steamed bun in Zhang Bailin’s hand, Liu Yi waved his hand in refusal.

“I’ve already eaten. Besides, if you had time to buy breakfast, couldn’t you have come a bit earlier?”

“People are made up of rice. You can skip school, but you absolutely have to eat well. That’s what my parents always say." Seeing that Liu Yi didn’t want it, Zhang Bailin took back the bag and took one out for himself to munch on.

"I can believe that. Otherwise, how else would you grow to be this big?" Liu Yi chuckled and shook his head. He had come across plenty of foodies, but Zhang Bailin was definitely one of a kind.

“Oh, by the way, did you know? Our professional course next week is Human Body Sketching,” Zhang Bailin spoke through a mouthful of food, his words slightly muffled.

Although they couldn't hear him clearly, as soon as he said this, everyone around him, including Liu Yi, perked up their ears.

Even the girls nearby leaned in out of curiosity.

"Zhang Bailin, where did you hear that? Spill it!"

"Yesterday I was helping the teacher tidy up the cssroom and overheard them talking about it."

"This afternoon the second css next door will have a Sketching css, it's our turn to start next week."

Seeing him speak with such certainty, the students all got excited.

Although they knew it was art, figure sketching was, after all, a course that only appeared in university. None of the students present had experienced it before, so they were naturally very curious about this new thing.

This kind of curiosity had nothing to do with gender or age; everyone has it, especially in retively traditional countries like ours.

"What do you think? Will the model be male or female? Young or older?"

"It’s definitely gotta be a woman, preferably young and beautiful," one boy grinned, his expression betraying his inner LSP (“lewd straight person”) tendencies.

“You wish! I bet it’ll most likely be an old guy or an old dy,” a slightly more rational boy said.

Liu Yi agreed with this person. In the world of art models, older people were more common. In fact, most were retirees. They were free anyway, and sitting for a few hours as a model wasn’t strenuous, plus they got paid.

“It would be great if the model was a cute young guy, puahaha.”

“What, if it were a handsome guy, you’d want to get to know him inside and out?”

A group of girls gathered together, letting their imaginations run wild, each with a smitten smile on their faces.

Once this topic came up, the students couldn’t stop talking, completely losing interest in drawing.

Compared to the human body, the still life in front of them instantly became dull.

The commotion in the cssroom attracted the teacher’s attention. Zhang Qiang (Baldy Qiang), holding a full mug of goji berry tea, returned to the cssroom and saw the group of people gathered around Zhang Bailin, ughing and joking.

“Are you trying to rebel? Everyone back to your seats!”

With a loud roar, the students scattered like startled monkeys.

Zhang Bailin, who was eating, hurriedly hid the bag of steamed buns under his butt. He perched on the edge of his seat, hoping to shield it from view as much as possible.

Baldy Qiang had a terrible temper and a lot of rules. On the first day of css, he'd explicitly forbidden students from eating in the cssroom.

After all, art students' hands were always covered in either pencil lead or paint, which was extremely unhygienic. And the grease from food could easily stain their artwork.

Now, not only was Zhang Bailin te, but if he was also caught eating, he’d definitely be ripped to shreds.

Liu Yi sweated for him, because Baldy Qiang, upon entering the room, headed straight for him.

"Zhang Bailin, css has only been in session for a few days, and you’re already te!"

"You’re a fine one, aren't you? You’ve got some nerve!"

Baldy Qiang walked up to him, raised his hand, and forcefully patted Zhang Bailin’s shoulder several times in quick succession.

This caused Zhang Bailin, who was already sitting precariously, to sink lower and lower. Finally, his legs gave way, and he sat down with a thud.

The red bean bun underneath him instantly burst!

"When I was your age, I couldn’t wait to get to school early every day so I could start creating!"

"But you lot? Late first thing in the morning. Let me guess—overslept, didn’t you?"

"At your age, how can you even sleep in?!"

Baldy Qiang spoke with great fervor, spraying saliva everywhere, while Liu Yi watched Zhang Bailin’s face gradually turn green.

"When I'm talking to you, you still have the nerve to sit there? Stand up!"

Zhang Bailin reluctantly and slowly stood up, the back of his pants marked with a patch of dark brown.

The several students sitting behind him were stunned by what they saw.

A few seconds ter, a nosy student suddenly broke the silence.

"Oh my god, Zhang Bailin was so scolded by the teacher that he shat himself!"

As soon as these words came out, the whole cssroom erupted. The people nearby immediately backed away several meters, leaving only Baldy Qiang and Zhang Bailin facing each other.

Baldy Qiang craned his neck to take a look at his backside and was also dumbfounded.

Some people’s words can move you to tears.

Some people’s words can scare you into wetting yourself.

But Baldy Qiang never imagined that his words could induce diarrhea.

“Bailin, uh…maybe you should go change your pants,” Baldy Qiang said cautiously, his earlier confidence completely defted. Students nowadays were too emotionally fragile. If he were to be bmed for this, how would he expin it to the school?

“Teacher, I didn’t! Don’t listen to them. It’s red bean paste!” Zhang Bailin protested, panicked.

“No need to expin. Just go quickly. We won’t ugh at you,” Baldy Qiang replied, giving him a look of sincere pity, as though comforting someone mentally unwell.

  …

Zhang Berlin ran crying out of the cssroom.

  But Liu Yi ughed.

Because Zhang Berlin’s commotion just now provided him with a full 5000+ points of Social Death.

Liu Yi opened his system interface to check.

  [Social Death Value: 7671/10,000]

It had only been a little over an hour, and he was already not far from a system upgrade.

When Zhang Bailin returned after changing his pants, he was utterly dejected. His entire demeanor exuded a bleak, gray despair.

But even worse was that all the cssmates, especially the girls, had moved their seats far away from him.

Zhang Bailin having just entered the school gates, had already lost his rights to find a partner for the next four years.

It wasn't until lunchtime that Liu Yi put his arm around his shoulder and kept trying to comfort him.

"Social Death isn't scary, you'll get used to it after a few more times," Liu Yi thought to himself, It would be best if it happened every day, so I can get rich off of you.

"You're still making sarcastic remarks!" Zhang Bailin said with tears in his eyes, "I will never eat red bean buns again in my life."

The two walked together to the cafeteria, and as soon as they sat down, a teasing voice came from behind them.

“Yo, isn’t this Zhang Bailin? Haven’t seen you in a few hours—how’d you manage to poop yourself?”

Liu Yi didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. The two troublemakers from their dormitory had arrived.

Turning his head, as expected, two people were standing behind them, both trying to hold back their ughter.

The nky one with a mischievous grin was Wang Jiannan, the one who had just spoken.

The other, more solidly built with a prematurely serious demeanor, was Du Gang.

"Wang Jiannan, I'm going to kill you!" Zhang Berlin said, becoming angry and embarrassed, and immediately started chasing after him.

Liu Yi and Du Gang exchanged a look and let the two troublemakers mess around by themselves. The two of them directly got up and went to the food window to get their lunch.

During lunchtime, the lines at the cafeteria windows were always extremely long. The two had been standing for five or six minutes, and with two or three people still ahead of them, they were just barely able to see the dishes inside the window.

Estimating that they would be up in another minute or two, Liu Yi had already begun to mentally pn what he wanted to eat today.

“Sweet and sour ribs look pretty good.”

“This shredded pork with garlic sauce also looks appetizing.”

“What the heck is this? Stir-fried mooncakes with tomatoes?”

While simultaneously admiring and critiquing the cafeteria's culinary skills, Liu Yi noticed that the line in front of him had suddenly stopped moving.
