Chapter 246

Nova took a long, deep look at the door-like gates in front of him.

Without even knowing what was behind them, he could only imagine the amount of effort his friends and subordinates had put in over the years to build such a place.

This moved him greatly, and he momentarily fell silent.

After gathering himself, he smiled at Cassidy and softly said, “Wind. I pick wind first.”

Cassidy nodded and pointed at a grey-green door, saying, “Go on in then. I’ll wait for you here.”

“Eh?” Nova exclaimed in surprise, not having expected her to say that. He quickly added, “There’s no need for you to wait here, and this might also take a while. Instead, why don’t you take this time to rest? I’ll call you when I’m finished.”

He knew that Cassidy had been one of, if not the, busiest person out of all his friends since he’d entered the Purple portal due to having to handle all of Nemesis’s matters.

Even though he was back now, with everything he needed to prepare for, he couldn’t afford to spare the time to take this burden off her. Thus, he was extremely grateful for everything she was doing.

Without her, he didn’t know if Nemesis would’ve thrived so much.

No, he didn’t even know if it would’ve still existed.

He already felt guilty for dropping such a massive workload on her when it should’ve been his responsibility, and ever since he’d returned he had tried to think of a way to repay her but couldn’t come up with anything.

What could he even offer her? There was nothing he could get that she couldn’t.

Now, though, hearing that she was even willing to wait for him while standing in a lonely basement, he couldn’t bring himself to accept it.

Cassidy looked at him and asked, “Will you remember to call me?” Her eyes carefully scrutinized his expression.

“Yes, yes,” Nova nodded, repeating, “As soon as I’m done, I’ll call you.”

“Hmm.” She gave it some thought and, when she finally reached a decision, nodded lightly. “Alright. I’ll go back to my villa. Call me before leaving Quarath again.”

She gave him a long look that made Nova wonder what would happen if he didn’t call her, but he quickly stopped that thought and calmly nodded once again.

Seeing that, Cassidy’s lips curved up slightly before she spun on her heels and walked toward the door.

Nova watched her go and, just as she reached the entrance and he was about to look away, she turned around and said, “Ah! I forgot to mention, there might be a few people inside the rooms. It shouldn’t be a problem, but I wanted to let you know.”

With that, she turned around once more and, this time, disappeared from his view.

“That’s not a problem,” he mumbled as he walked toward the wind room’s door and placed one hand on it.

Then, he tried to push the door open with one hand but he was shocked to find out just how heavy it was. It didn’t move even a single centimeter.

  ‘Seriously?’ His brow rose.

While not being able to push the door open with one hand might have seemed normal to others who’d been here and knew of its difficulty, to Nova it was absurd, to say the least.

By now, just in terms of pure strength alone, he felt he would be able to fight against the level 100 construct without using his external Aura.

It was a feat that would shock even Jack and Erevan if they knew, because it meant Nova would be able to fight bare-handed against a level 125 construct, without having comprehended Force, so long as he used his Aura.

  What if he used Dreadscape?

Not even Nova himself knew if that was enough to go against a level 150 construct.

One could only imagine just how much strength a single one of his arms possessed, and even with all that strength, he couldn’t casually open this door.

Nova’s eyes narrowed. ‘Let’s see how long you can hold on.’

Instead of using both arms, he slowly increased the force with which his single arm pushed against the door.

It went from the strength of an average Grade 0 on Earth to that of one of the stronger ones, before soon crossing into the threshold of the weakest Grade 1. Just as he was about to push even harder, he felt the door in front of him slowly begin to move.

He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the fact that one needed the strength of the weakest Grade 1 on Earth just to push this door open.

‘I doubt even the vault of the Vireah Empire was this heavy,’ he joked to himself.

Soon, the door was pushed open enough for a crack to form, and suddenly a violent wave of wind mana swept toward him.

His long black hair whipped wildly in the air while his robe became skin-tight for a moment before the wind finally calmed.

When the surprise receded and Nova finally sensed the amount of wind mana contained in that outburst, he momentarily forgot to breathe.

‘Just how many elemental mana-based materials did they use to build these rooms?’ he wondered, letting out a sigh of amazement. Then he remembered the vast surge of wind mana that had just hit him, and he grinned.

‘With this much mana, ss long as my body can take it even reaching Rank 5 isn’t out of the question.’

In a rush of excitement, he used both arms and—

  BAAANG!

The door that was heavy even for the weakest Grade 1 flew wide open and it smashed against the wall behind it.

Nova calmly stepped in and focused his gaze.

The room was spacious enough to house at least a hundred people, but it didn’t have any flooring or walls.

In fact, rather than a room it looked more like a cave that had just been dug out, nothing like the carefully crafted space one would expect from the outside. Strewn across the cave were minerals and ores. They seemed out of place, yet that couldn’t have been further from the truth as they were what made this cave so special in the first place.

Even while standing at the entrance, Nova could feel the enormous amount of wind mana surrounding him, it was so much that even the Mage Tower’s wind area he had visited in the portal couldn’t compare.

The walls, the ground, the dirt, everything in the room was giving off wind mana.

Taking a closer look, he noticed that at the far end of the cave there were even weapons, possibly forged from wind attributed ores, stuck into the ground.

It seemed like everything in this cave was related to wind.

‘How much would it cost to build something like this using the Store?’

The question popped into his mind, but just thinking about it gave him a headache.

He knew it was impossible for a single individual to buy these many items from the Store and build anything even remotely similar.

‘Either a few people robbed entire civilizations clean, or many people took a little from each one of them. It doesn’t matter which it was, what matters is that the end result is better than I could’ve ever imagined,’ Nova thought just as the door behind him closed with a low rumble.

It was then that he noticed a handful of people sitting on the ground, scattered throughout the area. Their heads were turned toward him, but only briefly. Once they realized they didn’t recognize him, they lost interest and went back to what they were doing.

The large amount of merit points required to enter this place ensured that everyone present was either an exceptional soldier who had performed glorious deeds, a distinguished captain, or a commander.

Such people only respected those stronger than themselves, and despite hearing the heavy door slam against the wall, they weren’t impressed. There were too many possible explanations for such an occurrence, and the simplest was that he had helpers who left right after opening the door.

All in all, to them this situation wasn’t worth mentioning.

Seeing their reactions, Nova thought, ‘That works too.’

His gaze shifted back to the end of the cave.

‘Seems like that place will do.’

With that, he calmly strolled toward the far end of the cave.
