Chapter 60 Surviving the Calamity

  Chapter 60: Surviving the Camity

It was unclear how much time had passed. San Bao vaguely heard someone calling her name.

"San Bao! San Bao! San Bao!"

The voice was full of concern, and she felt someone shaking her shoulder urgently. She finally opened her eyes.

The first thing she saw was Tang Mingli’s face, covered in dust yet still handsome. He gazed at her with eyes full of joy, as though they had survived the ordeal together.

Seeing her awake, Tang Mingli immediately pulled her into his embrace, his voice slightly choked. "We survived, San Bao! We’re alive!"

San Bao was moved and allowed him to hold her for a moment.

After a while, she gently broke free from his embrace, stood up, and looked around.

They were no longer in the inn at Yingqiu Town but instead on an open patch of nd in the mountains.

The mountain wind was gentle, brushing against the leaves still holding onto the morning dew. Sunlight filtered through thin clouds, casting a warm glow on the grass, while the sounds of insects and birds filled the air. The scent of fresh grass and earth lingered in the atmosphere.

San Bao took a deep breath, feeling a sense of awe and gratitude. After surviving such a camity, the ordinary mountain scenery before her felt like the most beautiful view in the world, captivating and never tiring to gaze at.

She turned around to count the people. Except for a few guards who had sacrificed their lives during the battle with the ghost immortal, everyone else was present, sitting or lying around, slowly waking up. Some of the more powerful guards had already gotten to their feet and started rousing their companions. The atmosphere among the group was filled with joy.

Her gaze swept over the surroundings and suddenly stopped at a rge stone by the mountain path.

Zhu Chengzhi was lying on the stone. His eyeshes trembled, and he slowly opened his eyes, as if just waking up. When he saw San Bao approaching, he suddenly burst into tears and rushed into her arms.

San Bao tightly hugged him, gently stroking his hair, and whispered, "Don’t cry. There are so many brothers and sisters here. We will take good care of you, just like your sister did."

Zhu Chengzhi looked up at her, his eyes filled with tears, nodding slightly as though he understood.

Not far from them, the carriage was intact, as though it had never been in any danger. The two horses pulling the carriage were happily grazing on the grass at the side of the mountain, completely at ease.

San Bao walked over to the carriage and opened the door.

  "Meow~"

San Bao’s cat, Sanhua Bao, was zily stretched out on the seat, yawning. Upon seeing San Bao, it immediately meowed, wagged its tail, and leapt onto her shoulder, rubbing affectionately against her cheek.

Tang Mingli quickly organized the group, and they set off again, continuing toward the capital.

The carriage moved slowly along the mountain road. Breaking the silence inside the carriage, San Bao spoke first. "So, the Zhu family heirloom that can change the fate of the Rudy Kingdom is the Transfer Orb?"

Tang Mingli nodded. "Yes. The orb is connected to the Zhu family bloodline, and only each generation’s head of the family can use it. That’s why we had to escort both the Zhu siblings to the capital, rather than just delivering the orb."

"This orb was actually used once over three hundred years ago," he paused. "At that time, the Rudy Kingdom was on the verge of being destroyed, and the Zhu family head used the Transfer Orb to reverse fate, saving the kingdom’s fortunes. But he was met with backsh from the heavens and died in the process."

"Since then, the Zhu family has been dwindling, with each successive generation’s strength weakening. The previous head of the family and many of the cn members died in an accident, and only these siblings survived by chance. Now, the Zhu family has only Zhu Chengzhi left."

Tang Mingli stared out the window at the mountains, his expression complex.

"I will work hard to cultivate!" Zhu Chengzhi’s voice suddenly rang out, his small face serious. "I’ll get stronger and stronger, and I will never let down the sacrifice my sister made for me!"

San Bao lovingly stroked his hair, her voice soft. "You can do it."

"Where is the Transfer Orb now?" she suddenly asked.

Zhu Chengzhi patted his chest with a serious expression. "It’s here. I’ll protect it well."

San Bao nodded, then remembered something. "That creature that ran away, it said Zhu Ting had betrayed him. Did you set that up in advance?"

"Yes," Tang Mingli smiled. "The Bde of Wrath was given to Zhu Ting by me."

He began telling the ancient legend.

"According to legend, in the ancient Western continent, war was frequent, and evil spirits roamed freely. Countless people died at the hands of demons and monsters, and it was like hell on earth."

"There was a child who had a perfect family—his parents were loving and kind, and he and his sister were close and happy. One day, he went up the mountain to gather firewood, and when he returned, he found his vilge in fmes, his family and the vilgers devoured by evil spirits."

"Filled with rage, he kneeled at the ruins of his home and prayed to the heavens, asking for divine retribution to help him eliminate the monsters."

"A bde fell from the sky, sticking into the ground before him. It was this Bde of Wrath."

"With this bde, he slew countless fierce ghosts and evil spirits, saving thousands of people."

"This Bde of Wrath changed many hands over time, and after years of use, the bde fractured. My Tang family acquired it by chance, and I had craftsmen reforge the bde using cold iron. It became a complete weapon again. And because of this reforging, its appearance changed, and the creature didn’t recognize it in time, which was how the pn succeeded."

"I see now!" San Bao suddenly understood.

The rest of the journey was smooth. The mountain roads were still treacherous, but no more evil creatures came to trouble them. The group passed through numerous mountain ranges without further incident.

A few days ter, the walls of the capital came into view. They had safely delivered the st of the Zhu family bloodline and the Transfer Orb to their destination.
