Chapter 55: Breaking the Bones and Burning the Evil
Tang Mingli shouted sternly, "Everyone, disperse! This is no ordinary purple zombie or white zombie; it's a Yasha!"
Before the words were even fully out of his mouth, the Yasha that had once been Tang Ping surged into the crowd. Its speed was so swift that its trajectory was almost impossible to track. Surrounded by bck-purple corpse energy, its eyes glowed with a blood-red light. Its form was twisted and terrifying, resembling a vengeful spirit crawling back from hell.
Several Imperial Guards didn’t have time to dodge, and were struck by the Yasha’s palm. Their bodies flew up before crashing to the ground, lifeless.
The Yasha flew back into the air and dove down again, this time targeting Sanbao and Tang Mingli.
Sanbao focused, gathering her energy. Her hands drew several circles in the air, forming a seal. Spiritual power surged from her dantian, condensing in her right palm. A ball of extraordinary fire shot from her palm. The fire howled out, forming a dazzling golden fireball, its intense heat scorching the surrounding air as it flew directly toward the Yasha's face.
The Yasha did not dodge. Instead, it opened its mouth wide, releasing a jet of icy water that collided head-on with the golden fireball!
The fire and water met mid-air with a thunderous explosion, sending a massive cloud of white mist into the air, obscuring the battlefield.
Sanbao urged her spiritual power again, and with a flick of her fingers, the golden fireball expanded. The fmes leaped higher, and in an instant, it broke through the ice water’s barrier, continuing toward the Yasha.
However, the Yasha still didn’t avoid the attack. It opened its mouth again, this time releasing a ball of golden fmes. The golden fireball quickly formed and flew toward Sanbao’s fireball.
It had extraordinary fire too! Sanbao was taken aback. She remembered the records in the *Divine Illumination Sutra*.
The zombie family is divided into three csses: the lowest are the ordinary zombies formed from corpse transformations, such as the purple and white zombies. If the corpse decays to just bones and undergoes transformation again, it becomes a second-css skeleton monster, which is further divided into wandering corpses, lying corpses, and unmelting bones. Tang Ping had undergone the transformation into a skeleton monster after being a te-stage martial artist. Such a person, after transformation, would directly become the highest-css Yasha.
The difference between a Yasha and a skeleton monster, or a regur zombie, is that the Yasha has bone wings, can fly, is more resistant to damage, and can cast various extraordinary powers!
This is like a zombie with ten abilities in one! Sanbao couldn’t help but scoff inwardly.
The Yasha’s golden fire collided with Sanbao’s golden fire in mid-air. The two fireballs entwined and collided violently, sparks flying everywhere, heat waves rolling through the air, as if two bzing suns collided in the sky, turning the night into day.
The Imperial Guards were stunned, momentarily forgetting to flee.
But Tang Mingli didn’t hesitate. Seizing the opportunity while the Yasha and Sanbao were cshing, he leapt forward like an arrow, holding the Dragon Abyss Sword. His body turned into a sharp, unmatchable sword light, merging into one with the sword as he stabbed directly at the Yasha’s back!
The Yasha noticed him too. It pulled a bone from its own chest, holding it as a weapon. Turning around, it blocked Tang Mingli’s sky-shattering strike with the bone.
“Boom!” A loud explosion sounded as the spiritual energy surged at the point of contact between the two weapons. The shockwave spread, shattering a cart, and Zhu Ting’s empty coffin fell to the ground with a muffled thud.
The Yasha wielded its rib bone like a spiked club, creating a gust of wind. It fought fiercely with Tang Mingli’s Dragon Abyss Sword, and surprisingly, they were evenly matched. Tang Mingli leapt up and down, his sword fshing in a series of attacks and counterattacks. They fought to a standstill, neither side gaining an advantage.
Before his death, Tang Ping had been a peak-stage martial artist, and now as a zombie, his strength had greatly increased. The Yasha he transformed into was far more terrifying than ordinary ones. It could use various extraordinary powers and martial arts techniques. It fought Sanbao and Tang Mingli simultaneously and was evenly matched with both of them. The battle was deadlocked, with neither side able to prevail.
As the battle reached a stalemate, an Imperial Guard suddenly had an epiphany. He hurled his weapon at the Yasha in mid-air.
The knife, carrying a violent wind, sshed toward the Yasha’s heart. Just as it was about to strike, an invisible force deflected it as though it had hit an invisible shield. The knife was sent flying with a “cng.”
Although the weapon didn’t hit the Yasha, its movements paused momentarily, becoming slightly slower.
Other Imperial Guards saw this and followed suit, throwing their weapons at the Yasha. Although dozens of weapons were all deflected by the Yasha’s surrounding energy shield, they caused its movements to slow down and lose their earlier fluidity.
Tang Mingli seized the opportunity, pinpointing an opening. He thrust his sword upward, aiming for the Yasha’s chest. The Yasha swung its rib bone to block, but missed. The Dragon Abyss Sword suddenly twisted in mid-air, turning into a counterattack from the right side, and plunged into the Yasha’s chest, wedging between its two hard ribs!
At this moment, Sanbao took several Lei Zhenzi from her Seven Treasures Bracelet and threw them at the Yasha!
The Lei Zhenzi hit the Yasha’s torso, exploding into fiery sparks. While not extraordinary fire, it greatly depleted the Yasha’s spiritual energy, and its protective energy shield began to weaken.
Tang Mingli seized the moment, using his sword control technique to make the Dragon Abyss Sword spin and twist within the Yasha’s chest. The Yasha, affected by the shock, began to lose its flight stability and descended lower and lower.
With a painful roar, the Yasha’s bone cws reached for the Dragon Abyss Sword, trying desperately to pull it out.
The Yasha’s extraordinary golden fmes had lost their energy supply and were gradually consumed by Sanbao’s extraordinary fire. Sanbao urged her spiritual power, unching her final strike. The fireball collided with the Yasha’s body, and the fmes quickly spread over its form.
Sanbao made a seal with her left hand. A blue light rose from her right palm, and a water dragon shot out, roaring as it soared toward the Yasha. It entangled the Yasha, which was burning in mid-air, trapping it completely.
The fmes and water cshed violently with the Yasha’s skeletal form, steam scattering in all directions as the battle intensified.
Sanbao suddenly remembered that earlier, she had drawn a demon-sealing talisman on Tang Ping’s right hand. The talisman was meant to temporarily seal and repel any attacking spirits when he was alone in danger.
“Tang Mingli!” she called, “I need your blood!”
Without hesitation, Tang Mingli drew a gleaming green jade dagger from his waist pouch and sshed his left palm. Fresh blood flowed from the wound as he raised his hand high, palm facing the sky.
Sanbao chanted a spell, and with a flick of her finger, a thin line of blood flew out from Tang Mingli’s palm. It sliced through the air, striking the Yasha’s body with pinpoint accuracy.
The Yasha’s right hand suddenly glowed with a golden symbol. The demon-sealing talisman had finally been activated by Tang Mingli’s blood!
“Ahhhhh!!!” The Yasha screamed in agony, its limbs twitching before crashing to the ground, its bones scattering.
Sanbao summoned another fireball of extraordinary golden fmes, striking the Yasha’s remains. The fmes consumed its dismembered body, reducing it to ashes, and soon, all that remained were smoldering remains.
The difficult battle finally came to an end.
“Big sister, you’re amazing!” Zhu Chengzhi cheered and leaped toward Sanbao, wrapping his arms around her waist.
Sanbao bent down, ruffling his hair, and a victorious smile spread across her face. The Imperial Guards cheered in triumph, and even the usually stoic Tang Mingli’s lips curled into a faint smile.
However, no one noticed the strange smile that appeared on Zhu Chengzhi’s otherwise innocent face as he hugged Sanbao. It was a smile that sent a chill down the spine.
