124~Like Father, Like Son

Yvlena dodged another tail attack and opened up her inventory to read the description again. As she had previously read the description with the specs the details would show the same way.

  [Giant Teddy Summon Bell

  ***

  Type: Summon Bell (Epic)

The ringing of the bell summons the celestial spirit to deliver an attack action before disappearing.

The Celestial Spirit of Elio the bear, a gentle protector of those weak and small.

One of 5 Celestial Spirits (Toy Land Set)

(Story uncovered with each piece added)]

She grabbed the bell, leaping over the spear as it struck forward to impale her. Yvlena skidded to a halt, right in front of the Field Mouse Sentinel, and with both hands shook the bell so that its clear chime rang out.

For a moment nothing seemed to happen, Yvlena held the bell with shaking hands wondering what she had done wrong. Her choice to stand in front of the mouse left her open and vulnerable to a devastating attack.

“Oh no!” She yelled, bracing herself for the point of the spear.

The bell rang again, and a shower of cartoonish glowing stars fell over her. The ground shook and a large teddy bear descended from the sky falling bottom-first onto the field mouse and crushing it with its weight.

Yvlena laughed. Elio, the bear looked around before locating her, the summoner. He gave a bright grin and jumped up, bouncing as he did. With his attack action done, he waved at her before disappearing in a pop and rush of stars.

Yvlena turned back to the Field Mouse who had dropped its spear after the devastating attack. She grinned deviously and rushed throwing her sickle as she ran.

  [Yvlena Cast Crescent Throw]

The sickle spun in the air, colliding with the sentinel multiple times before returning to her hands.

[Rabbit Knight Cast Rabbit Volley (05MP)

  [Sprite Cast Sting (01MP)]

[Yvlena Cast Harvest Skill: Wide Sweep]

Together the barrage of attacks was enough to finish the Field Mouse Sentinel off. It fell forward disappearing in flakes of golden light and leaving Yvlena her rewards.

  [Yvlena is now level 16]

“I leveled up!” She cheered, but she didn’t have time to focus on her rewards from the fight as she rushed over to Dylan with a common health potion in her hand.

“Dylan!” she cried falling to her knees. She lifted the boy’s head gently and opened his mouth to tip the potion into his mouth. He drank it all, grimacing as the liquid slid down his throat. Yvlena hadn’t tried one yet herself but she knew it wouldn’t taste too good.

“Yvlena?” he called rubbing his head.

“Yeah it’s me, you got taken out by that giant mouse. I hope you won’t go running off again.” She said shaking him furiously.

“I won’t, I won’t!” he said in protest. Yvlena let go of Dylan and joined him to sit in the grass. She sighed then suddenly punched his upper arm hard.

“What was that for?!” he barked.

“You know very well what that was for!” Yvlena replied. Dylan grumbled under his breath and rubbed the sore arm until it stopped hurting.

“Come on, let’s get back to Bloom Haven, your mother must be worried sick. You can tell her all about your adventures when you get there.”

  ----------

The return to Bloom Haven was smooth with Dylan not having the energy to run off into the distance chasing danger. Yvlena wouldn’t admit it but she was secretly glad the mouse had hit him hard enough that he didn’t have the strength to be foolish.

Once they walked through Bloom Haven’s familiar gates, Yvlena dismissed her summons to give them some well needed rest before the next battle.

They arrived at the Floral District, easily spotting his house and his mother who was outside hanging fresh laundry. At the sight of her son she practically leaped over the fence to grab him.

“Dylan where have you been!” The woman yelled, shaking the boy furiously the same way Yvlena had done not too long ago. She looked to Yvlena for an explanation, narrowing her gaze in anger at the elf.

“I took him to see his father’s final resting place, at his request of course.” Yvlena said nervously, with how realistic the NPCs were in this game it wouldn’t surprise her if Olivia was pissed off at the thought of her son going out on such a dangerous journey.

Olivia’s eyes softened, she should have known her son would have liked to venture out on his own to find the grave site.

“And he went with you?” Olivia asked hesitantly.

“Don’t worry I kept both my eyes on him.” Yvlena said. Dylan wasn’t in rough shape thanks to Sprite and a bunch more health potions.

Olivia stared at her son’s face with a forlorn expression, she lifted her hand to caress his face gently and soon started to cry.

“I should have known this day would come.” She said softly. Olivia turned to Yvlena, who was allowing the family to have their moment and smiled.

“Twice now, you’ve done a kindness for my family and I don’t even know you. Did you perchance know my husband in his youth? I know your people live long.”

“I’m afraid not ma’am but I’ve grown fond of you and Dylan, plus he asked for my help I couldn’t turn him down.” Yvlena replied confidently.

  “Thanks Yvlena.” Dylan said.

“Look after yourself and your mom okay, that’s really all the thanks I need.” Yvlena told him. ‘And stay in Bloom Haven until you’re stronger please!’ she thought.

[Through your actions you have progressed the story of this town and its citizens, they may prove to be helpful allies in the future]

Yvlena read through the notification curiously. That was new, she already knew she had progressed the story of the Harvest Guardian with her actions but she didn’t know she could affect Bloom Haven more than she already did.

  [Subclass: Leveled Up

  Garden Mystic (Harvest Guardian) 3/10]

“Mom, I want to join the town guard.” Yvlena heard Dylan say as Olivia led him into the house. The elf’s eyes widened. She didn’t know why she was as shocked as she was, it made sense that he wanted to be just like his father.

And well...he certainly had the instincts for it.

“He’s on the right path but I hope we don’t have another quest together in the future unless he grows up!” Yvlena said to herself.

The walk back to the Rose Manor was quiet, without Dylan and his antics it was oddly lonely. But that was okay, she had so many things to do and she had a quest with Risel to look forward to.

Pushing past the gates, she sighed in relief and went to sit under the big tree to rest. Now she could safely log out for a while.

Yvlena took a long look at the bright blue sky of Bloom Haven all the while she thought of the real world and moving day.

“Right, that’s tomorrow.” she said, leaning back fully against the tree. “The next time I log in, it’ll be from Mericross.”
