Chapter 2: The Start of Something New

To say I was shocked would be an understatement, I literally spent at least 30 seconds just staring with my mouth open at the weird blue screen that had just appeared in front of me.

And then I began to laugh,

I know this story, I had read hundreds of them, a bonafide System Apocalypse.

Suddenly my chest cramped and my heart started to pound, I dashed into my house and started grabbing anything I could find that might be of use.

I dumped out my school bag and started stuffing supplies in it.

My first stop was to get medicine because it was widely considered a key to apocalypse survival followed by water and some canned food that my dad kept for emergencies. clean socks and some other assorted cloth were next, I even took the time to wrap my bedsheets around my backpack, a tip I had seen in one of the many books I had read.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

After about 30 minutes of me furiously panic packing had gone by I started to relax a little. "What if this is just a prank." I mumbled out loud, but something deep inside me told me this was real.

despite my slight hesitation I continued to look for anything that might be even remotely useful.

even though I lived in America my dad was not very big on firearms. however, he was fascinated by cold weapons and had an impressive collection of assorted pocket knives. rifling through his drawers I pulled out his "user" collection, the ones he used regularly and wouldn't mind me taking even if the blue screens were just me hallucinating from sleep deprivation and grabbed the biggest knife I could find.

luckily I didn't have to think much longer on that topic as another screen suddenly popped up.

Looking at the message brought no clarity to the situation for me, it only brought up more questions.

Reading through again I figured that the only way I was going to get any answers would be to discover them.

With just a hint of excitement, I said "Status".
