16) Extras vs All

Xi Li gazed upon the horizon.

Massive spirit ships floated across the sky like drifting mountains, their hulls gleaming with formation light. Tens of thousands of cultivators stood upon them — banners of countless sects fluttering in the wind.

The entire Central Continent had come.

One figure after another stepped out from the void, their auras vast enough to distort space itself.

  “Greetings, Overseer.”

Powerhouses bowed respectfully toward the Immortal Ascendant, their smiles polite — their intentions anything but.

They had not come for justice.

They had come to divide the corpse of the Heaven Defying Sect.

  Clans.

  Great sects.

  City lords.

  Rogue sovereigns.

Every major force of the continent gathered beneath the darkened heavens.

Greed burned openly in their eyes.

  Ambition guided every breath.

The calm before the storm, Xi Li thought.

  “Sect Master… preparations are complete.”

Ling Yue’s gentle voice sounded behind him.

“The command authority has been transferred to the core disciples.”

Sun Zhen stepped forward, resting his massive hammer against his shoulder.

“We’re ready to make them remember this day.”

  Xi Li turned.

Behind him stood the pillars of the Heaven Defying Sect.

Ling Yue — upright and unyielding, Master of Array Formations, his first Dao Companion.

Cai Shuang — calm, calculating, eyes always three steps ahead, mistress of Celestial Divination.

Sun Zhen — towering and fearless, the soul of the Spirit Forging Hall.

Pill King Yao — elegant and arrogant, robes fluttering as spiritual flames danced faintly around him.

  Five individuals.

  Five stories.

Five rebels who had escaped fate time and time again.

  And now—

  Once more—

They stood upon the stage prepared by the Heavens themselves.

  Ready to overturn destiny.

  Xi Li smiled.

Then raised his sword toward the sky.

“Let them witness what defiance looks like!”

  “Charge!”

  He moved first.

Like a comet tearing through the heavens, Xi Li shot toward the Immortal Ascendant before the enemy forces could fully organize.

  The elders followed instantly.

  Boom!

Spiritual arrays ignited across the sect.

Floating formation platforms unleashed torrents of destruction — firestorms, tidal spears, collapsing mountains of condensed Qi — streaking across the sky toward the invading fleet.

  The heavens erupted.

  Enemy ships answered immediately.

  Lightning pillars descended.

  Sword rivers carved through space.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Divine beasts formed from pure Qi roared into existence.

  Spell met spell.

  Formation collided with formation.

The sky itself became a battlefield.

  And war began.

  ...

  Clang!

Sparks erupted as Xi Li’s sword collided with the Overseer’s blade, the impact tearing fractures through space itself. Cracks spread outward like shattered glass, swallowing stray spiritual light into the void.

  The Overseer’s expression remained calm.

“I must admit,” he said quietly, voice barely louder than the storm around them, “your sect truly deserves the name Heaven Defying.”

  His eyes narrowed.

“But you chose the wrong enemy.”

  Xi Li answered with action.

Dao Laws surged through his arm, flooding into his sword. Black mist condensed along the blade- dense and oppressive as though fragments of rebellion itself had taken form.

  He slashed.

  Space screamed.

“We seek to overthrow the Heavens,” Xi Li replied coldly.

“Who is there we would not dare offend?”

  The Overseer raised two fingers.

  BOOM!

Their collision detonated outward. The redirected sword light tore through a formation of nearby spirit ships, reducing them to fragments of burning metal and scattered souls.

Thousands perished instantly with even a chance to scream.

The Overseer did not even glance back.

The deaths of mortals meant nothing.

“The Heavenly Emperor desires the Bead of Heavens,” he said indifferently.

  “And Lu Jin must die.”

  Xi Li’s gaze hardened.

“We do not care what the Heavenly Emperor desires.”

The Gate of Immortality within his Dao Platform burst open.

Immortal Qi surged forth like a collapsing star.

Xi Li formed a seal and thrust it forward.

The heavens dimmed as it shot toward the Overseer—

Only to meet another descending seal.

  Impact.

  Reality folded.

  Law clashed against Law.

  Neither yielded.

Soon their battlefield settled into terrifying equilibrium.

  Attack.

  Counterattack.

  Creation.

  Destruction.

Two Immortal Ascendants moved in perfect rhythm — neither gaining ground, each strike capable of ending worlds.

  ...

Meanwhile, in another part of the battlefield --

Sun Zhen’s muscles swelled, veins glowing faintly as Dao Power surged through his body.

With a thunderous roar, he brought his colossal hammer down, carrying the full might of his Peak Dao Seeking Realm cultivation — a realm standing just beneath Immortal Ascension.

  The heavens trembled.

His opponent — a towering man of equal build — crossed his arms to block.

  BOOM!

  The hammer struck.

  Space folded inward.

The man was driven diagonally toward the earth like a falling meteor, crashing into the battlefield and carving a massive crater upon impact. Shockwaves rippled outward, shattering mountains and overturning spirit ships caught nearby.

  Dust rose.

Blood spilled from the man’s lips.

“Brainless brute…” he spat, wiping the blood from his face.

“Let’s see how long strength alone lasts against numbers.”

  The sky distorted.

  One—

  Three—

  Ten figures appeared beside him.

  Dao Seeking experts.

  Low. Mid. High stage.

Their auras merged, pressing down like collapsing heavens.

  Sun Zhen grinned.

  “…Good.”

He tightened his grip on the hammer.

  ...

  Flames erupted.

Pill King Yao’s body dissolved into spiritual fire, forming a blazing cocoon that warped the surrounding air. Heat waves rolled across the battlefield, melting lesser techniques before they could approach.

Around him floated nine colossal pills.

  Each embodied a Law.

Fire. Water. Metal. Wood. Earth. Wind. Lightning. Yin. Yang.

  They revolved like miniature suns.

  With a thought—

  The pills shot outward.

Each collision birthed explosions of elemental devastation, intercepting nearly half the invading experts attempting to breach the sect defenses.

  Pill King Yao stood proudly—

No enemy able to advance past him.

  ...

High above the battlefield, Ling Yue hovered motionless.

  Her Dao Platform rotated silently.

  Formation Laws unfolded.

Across the entire battlefield, invisible hexagonal grids manifested.

  Reality segmented.

Each hex became its own isolated domain — terrain shifting independently:

  Mountains rose.

  Gravity reversed.

  Spatial distance warped.

  Enemy coordination fractured instantly.

  Beside her stood Cai Shuang.

  Eyes closed.

  Mind racing faster than lightning.

Millions of battlefield outcomes flowed through her divine calculations.

“Elder Su — retreat to field 1,236.”

“Array discs seven through twelve — head to field 9,798.”

Her voice transmitted directly into the elders’ and core disciples’ minds.

The Heaven Defying Sect no longer fought as individuals—

  It fought as one organism.

  ...

Several array discs began to crack under the overwhelming strain of defending and attacking simultaneously.

Hairline fractures spread across their surfaces as torrents of Qi surged through them without pause.

The number of enemy ships destroyed by the Heaven Defying Sect was far from insignificant.

Burning wreckage rained from the skies.

  But victory did not come.

As time passed, more ships appeared beyond the horizon.

  Reinforcements.

Small sects. Independent clans. Rogue cultivator alliances.

All drawn by greed — eager to claim merit from the destruction of the Heaven Defying Sect and rise upon its corpse.

The pressure upon the disciples mounted rapidly.

  Breathing grew difficult.

  Meridians trembled.

Some nearly collapsed where they stood.

  ...

Cao Po, a core disciple commanding one of the array platforms, received Elder Cai Shuang’s transmission.

  He nodded once.

“Teleport to Hexagon 9798,” he ordered calmly.

“We engage enemy survivors from the destroyed fleets.”

  An outer sect disciple hesitated.

“S–Senior Brother… what about the incoming ships?”

Cao Po didn’t even look back.

“That,” he said coldly, “is someone else’s responsibility now.”

  His gaze sharpened.

  “Remember.”

  “Show no mercy.”

  Light erupted.

One after another, array discs vanished in flashes of spatial distortion, reappearing across designated hexagonal battle zones.

The Heaven Defying Sect shifted formations seamlessly—

  Turning defense into counteroffensive warfare.

  ...

  Elsewhere—

A group of cultivators from a minor clan watched the sudden withdrawal of sect forces.

  One sneered.

“Hmph… how arrogant. Ignoring us entirely.”

  His companion laughed loudly.

“They think only great sects matter.”

  He raised his weapon confidently.

“Even ants can drag elephants to their knees.”

  “And gods—”

  He grinned.

  “—can bleed.”

If I earn merit here, he thought greedily, the clan elders will finally recognize me.

  Laughter echoed between their ships.

  Then—

  ROOOOOOAR!

A primordial roar shattered the heavens.

  The world trembled.

  The man turned instinctively—

  —and froze.

A colossal blue dragon tore across the sky, ancient scales shimmering like oceans under sunlight. Its claws ripped through spirit ships as though they were paper, explosions blooming behind its passing form.

  Destruction followed in silence.

There were never a shortage of fools in this world.

  Birds died for food.

  Men died for greed.

  The cultivator’s vision went dark.

  ...

The experts battling the elders of the Heaven Defying Sect finally noticed the disaster unfolding behind them.

  Their fleets burned.

  Their reinforcements shattered.

Formation after formation collapsed beneath relentless counterattacks.

  Panic spread.

Several Dao Seekers attempted to disengage, retreating toward the outer battlefield—

—but the elders gave them no such mercy.

  Blades pursued.

  Laws descended.

Every attempt at escape was answered with killing intent.

Those few who managed to break free shot toward the horizon—

Only to slam violently into an invisible barrier.

  Ripples spread across empty space.

  A spatial wall.

The battlefield had already been sealed.

  There would be no retreat.

  ...

  High above—

The Overseer observed the war below.

For the first time since his arrival…

  He inhaled sharply.

The entire continent… cannot suppress them.

  His gaze hardened.

  Cold.

  Decisive.

Without hesitation, he launched another attack toward Xi Li, forcing distance between them.

Immortal Qi surged as he wrapped himself in layers of protective light.

  Then—

He reached into his sleeve and withdrew a crystalline shard.

Its surface shimmered with ancient authority.

Xi Li’s eyes fell upon it.

  And he understood.

  The end was near.

  He did not move.

  Did not attack.

  Did not attempt interruption.

  He simply watched.

  The Overseer noticed the stillness.

  A bluff, he concluded.

A desperate attempt to shake his resolve.

  He sneered.

  “Too late for regret.”

  CRACK.

  The crystal shattered.

A pillar of blinding light erupted upward, piercing heaven and earth alike.

  The skies trembled.

  Across the world—

  Far beyond the Central Continent—

Five more beams ignited in distant realms.

  Like stars awakening.

  Like shackles unlocking.

  The heavens… had been summoned.
