Hey Diary,
Tonight we’re in the lovely town of Potat. So far, every meal we've had here has included potatoes. I'm not sure if that’s a coincidence or not. I mean, potatoes are quite good, and very filling.
My hair is still more pink than yellow. Maeve said it should be easy to dye, and I think I’ll do that if we get to a city. Because people are looking at me differently.
Or maybe I just think they are cuz I expect them to.
The mayor here has charm magic. When we met her this morning she just looked me over and gave me the most pitying look I’ve ever been given. Like she knows my life is about to be full of mistrust and prejudice just because of my hair color.
She was nice, though. She had a map of places for me and Luke to go, and had all her papers ready for Maeve. Having a map, instead of just a list of names, was very nice and considerate of her.
If I ever somehow become mayor of a town, I'm gonna make sure and have a whole bunch of maps drawn out for when travelers come through to do work.
The jobs here mostly involved figuring out why all the animals are stressed. They’re stressed because “ground bad”.

It’s not just one specific part of one farm here. All the farms have animals who think the ground is bad. I… don't know what to do about that. I used one of Maeve’s telepaper sheets to send a report to the Guild that something is going on with the planet that has all the animals freaked out, but I don't know how seriously they’ll take me.
I mean, I’m just a nineteen-year-old from a little town who only recently joined the Guild. What reason do they have to listen to me?
Mostly I'm hoping someone else also sent a report saying animals are freaking out. Someone with more of a good reputation. That way they can look at the old, respected Beastmaster and go “ah yes, your report was corroborated by a kit who is also working for us”. And something will be done.
I don't know what will be done, but hopefully something. Maybe they'll get a bunch of people with earth magic together and fix the ground. Somehow.
…Speaking of fixing the ground, an earthquake just happened. A little one, but I felt it.
I wonder… If the ursa major sucked all my magic out, would I be able to replace it with any color magic? I like being able to use both my magic types, but having earth magic sounds really useful right about now.
I wonder if anyone has tried that. Sure, they might die in the process, but… Nah, no buts. Besides, they might be permanently stuck without a specialty. Which would be worse than having a not-very-useful magic specialty.
So yeah, I'm not gonna go track down that giant danger bear.
Actually, I should go check on Peanut. Make sure the earthquake didn't scare him. He is under my care, after all.
Signing off,
