Chapter 9: The Second Round

It felt like being struck by an electric shock. Jyu’s entire body trembled violently when he saw Tyrex’s eyes snap wide open. They were now staring at him sharply!

For a few seconds, Jyu’s body felt completely paralyzed. He wanted to run or unch an attack at once, but his body utterly refused to obey his mind’s commands.

Tyrex had already awakened, and without hesitation, it flung Jyu off its face. His small body shot downward rapidly and smmed against the rocks. Blood burst from his mouth!

A second ter, Tyrex seemed confused, its nose snorting continuously like a dog. Suddenly, its face drew close to Jyu. It turned out the creature was interested in the provisions he carried.

Hungry, Tyrex opened its mouth wide to devour Jyu along with his supplies. Luckily, Jyu managed to move in time and dodge. This time, he escaped and immediately ran toward the East, while Tyrex ended up biting into the hard rocks instead.

In the middle of his escape, Jyu felt at his waist, counting the rabbit meat he carried. Now only three slices remained. This was all he had to fight that terrifying monster. He was certain he would win!

Tyrex began chasing him, but Jyu moved in zigzags between the rocks. Disappearing and suddenly reappearing, he confused Tyrex.

Fortunately, the rocks in this area were massive, making it difficult for Tyrex to shatter them easily. Jyu had the advantage, as the rocks helped him either flee or strike back—if he dared to attack!

Jyu kept running even though Tyrex quickly caught up. But Jyu had a pn. He would slip into the gaps between the rge rocks, then throw a slice of meat in the opposite direction, hoping to deceive Tyrex.

He executed the pn as he entered the rocky crevices. One slice of meat he hurled outward, flying right in front of Tyrex, who was about to squeeze into the gap to chase him. The scent instantly caught its attention. Its steps halted, and it immediately devoured the meat.

Meanwhile, Jyu continued running through the narrow passages toward the cave where his power resided. “Just a little farther and I’ll be there.”

Now he stood before the cave, perhaps only ten meters away. Without hesitation, he dashed toward it, a wide smile blooming on his lips, satisfied that he had defeated Tyrex.

That joy made Jyu careless. He forgot that Tyrex was quite intelligent. The monster had indeed been confused while searching for him, but the moment it saw Jyu, it attacked again by hurling its saliva. Suddenly, its mouth swelled like a frog’s, and in an instant, a glob of spit flew through the air.

  A direct hit.

The saliva struck Jyu, causing him to sink into a pool of disgusting, salty liquid.

“Damn you!” Jyu muttered angrily. For several seconds, he could not move, his body tossed about within the puddle of spit. Only when it began to overflow could he move slightly, though it was difficult because Tyrex’s saliva was incredibly sticky.

This was the perfect opportunity for Tyrex to chase him. Now it ran in bounding strides that made the ground tremble violently. Small rocks shattered from the vibrations.

Jyu refused to give up. Quickly, he sliced away the slime clinging to his body with his sword. Now he was free and ready to fight Tyrex again.

But there was no more time to flee. Tyrex was already near, ready to strike. In an instant, it shed its tail. Jyu was hit squarely. His body was flung westward, crashing against rocks several times.

“Arrgh!” he screamed in agony as his body smashed into a massive rock nearly thirty meters tall. Pain spread throughout him, and blood flowed from his head and mouth.

Tyrex was not yet satisfied. The monster ran toward him again, preparing another attack. If Jyu did not escape, he would surely die. Yet he struggled even to stand; his body was weak and wracked with pain.

Meanwhile, Tyrex drew closer, roaring as its fury peaked, as if seeking revenge for the wound in its eye.

His legs were still trembling, but Jyu refused to surrender. When the monster was almost upon him, he swiftly threw another slice of meat into the air. Instantly, it caught Tyrex’s attention, and the creature leapt to swallow it.

Jyu’s pn succeeded. Tyrex devoured the meat, but while airborne, it could no longer evade. A second ter, its face smmed hard into the rock before it.

“Take that!” Jyu said with satisfaction. Enduring the pain, he quickly leapt aside to avoid Tyrex’s falling body.

The monster crashed down right beside him, groaning and roaring in pain. Perhaps it was dizzy—or even concussed.

Tyrex seemed to lose its sense of direction. Suddenly, it rose and ran wildly in every direction, colliding with the surrounding rocks. Perhaps this was its instinct when hurt—its stupidity seemed to increase!

This was Jyu’s chance to reach the cave where his power awaited. Weakly, he rose and walked slowly toward it. His steps wavered, and he used his sword like a cane to keep himself from colpsing.

Step by step, Jyu pressed on, enduring the pain that wracked his entire body. At st, he arrived at the cave entrance, fnked by massive rocks.

“Finally, I’ve made it here!” he said with satisfaction, and immediately entered the cave.

The cave was utterly dark, illuminated only by blue stones. Their glow was dim, but it was enough for Jyu to see the entire interior. Directly ahead were many rge shadows. Suddenly, a strange sound echoed.

  “Ciiit!”

Jyu’s eyes widened. Now he could clearly see what stood before him. A swarm of rodent monsters, seemingly hiding from Tyrex—or perhaps this cave was their nest. Once again, Jyu had entered the enemy’s ir!

“Why do I have to fight again?” he compined.

Jyu could not accurately count their number. But the point was clear—his life was threatened once more. If he were in prime condition, he would likely defeat them. But now he was gravely wounded; even fighting two rat monsters felt unbearably heavy.

Like it or not, Jyu had to strike them down.

The rodent monsters kept squeaking, their cries echoing through the cave. They seemed furious at Jyu’s uninvited arrival. From their angry stares, they wanted to drive him out. But Jyu refused, for his goal y within this cave.

In an instant, two rat monsters attacked him. Jyu tried to dodge their bites, but his body was no longer as agile as before. Now the two creatures had cmped their teeth firmly onto his arm and leg.

Another monster charged, running swiftly and smming into him hard. Jyu’s body was hurled out of the cave. The rat monsters were not satisfied—they all chased after him.

Under the bzing sun, Jyu was surrounded by perhaps dozens of rodent monsters.

Jyu felt resigned to his fate if he truly had to die now. But death did not seem eager to cim him just yet. For directly above them, Tyrex was already waiting. It had even wedged a massive rock into the cave entrance so the rodent monsters could no longer return to their nest.

Jyu was now trapped in the midst of terrifying monsters.
