Chapter 187: Eradicator Battle(8)

  “Rrroooaaarrr!!!”

Its bellow thundered out, heavy and deep, shaking through snow battlefied, the earth groaning beneath its fury. The sky itself recoiled.

Dan stood distantly now, his breath visible in the frozen air. Jett and Liz were beside him, their figures framed against the glowing fractures of reality.

“It seemed to work,” Liz said at last, her emerald eyes narrowing as the words were spoken, though she wasn't still certain about it..

Jett’s pale-gray eyes remained locked on the monster. Her voice, low and doubtful, answered, “I’m not too sure about that.”

  Because in the distance...

  The smoke thickened.

The green haze poured from the cracks of the Eradicator’s armor, swirling upward and around it like a storm-tide given form. Its already imposing body swelled, its frame growing broader, taller, its very outline bending the light around it. The severed stumps writhed, melted into mist, and in moments, two new hands emerged, clawed fingers flexing as though they had never been lost at all.

It had undone the damage. Negating the concept of harm itself, like a law rewritten.

Liz’s sighed deeply, her eyes flicked toward Jett. “I think I understand what you meant now,” she murmured, her lips pressing tight.

They all knew.. the battle was not simply dangerous anymore. It was almost unraveling beyond their reach.

Far away from the clash, Emma sat quietly upon the snow.

Her small figure looked fragile against the endless white field, the flakes around her boots crushed into ice. The coat draped over her shoulders was thick and fluffy, but she did not pull it tighter. She sat perfectly still, her silver-white hair brushing against her face as her breath ghosted faintly into the icy air.

Her eyes, those pale, unique white eyes, did not blink. They were fixed on the growing form of the Eradicator.

Her expression was blank, unreadable, yet beneath it her mind raced, calculating if it can be defeated.

I don’t know what powers the Eradicator is using… but it feels as if it is denying the effect of any harm before it ever happens.

Her gaze lingered as if searching for a seam in its armor, or something to unravel against it. Even from here, she tried to see if it had a fate..

And she found out it doesn't have,

Her lips parted slightly, a sigh escaping her lips, That doesn’t matter… because I can impose a fate on it, but... Her thought trailed off, as her pupils shifted. The white orbs stirred, then turned, etched lines forming, intricate symbols unfolding like hidden scripts. They spun slowly at first, wheels interlocking within her gaze. Then faster. Spinning, spinning, until her eyes became radiant wheels of fate itself, glowing softly against the white haze of snow.

  The world around her changed.

The battlefield stretched out in new clarity, the storming smoke, the broken ground, everthing, everyone, through the turning of fate, Emma saw them all. Each thread, each shape, each concepts, each living moment, suspended within the vast and intricate loom of fate.

  And unsurprisingly..

She saw none of them had a fate.

Even so, she knew... they were already all ensnared inside her fate,

On the contrary, everyone is outside fate, Liz, Dan, Jett and even the opponent they are fighting against, doesn't have a Fate,

  And..

Emma stared at the Evolving Eradicator for a brief moment as a thread, faint, glimmering strand of fate extended from her, a subtle string reaching for it. For a single instant, it touched, only to be negated, fading into nothing the moment it met the armored figure.

It’s denying the imposing of fate, She thought, her gaze narrowing. Does this mean everyone who resides in the fruit, and has powers, can resist me in the same way?

The thought stirred deeper as another thought came to her mind. So it was because Matana was very weakened that I could impose a fate on him easily…

Her memory pricked sharply as Luna’s words about beings like them, resurfaced like an echo:

'We exist outside creation, destruction, all possible logic, rules and causality.... we are also not bound by time, or any of those mentioned.. we are outside all of that, we dictate our own time, rules, logics and cause of events, unlike the lower layers which most are bound to it or have transcended above it.'

Emma’s lips parted slightly as she absorbed the memory once more. Her unique white eyes softened, not with gentleness but with the clarity of understanding. Now she fully understands why.

Her voice didn’t reach the air, but her thoughts ran deep: My fate imposing cannot bind the Eradicator… because it has a very strong will.

Her fingers pressed lightly at her temple, massaging unconsciously as though the weight of so much thought was too heavy for her physical age. The cold air carried her faint exhale, while her other hand clutched the edge of her coat tighter against her chest.

Still, the thought spiraled, weaving more than one answer. Though… will alone isn’t enough. No. It must also be because of our level of existence. Since we exist outside logic and all those Luna had mentioned, and as long it's will is firm and paired with our level of existence, I cannot impose fate. To impose fate is to impose logic. If I cut it, the being ceases to exist in the fate i imposed.

Her eyes flicked upward once more, staring at the green haze coiling around the Eradicator. That is why my fate imposing worked on those deer-like creatures. They were still of creation, tied to cosmology, though not bound by it. They had also transcended fate, yes, that's why there were saturated with infinite strings of fate.

Her breathing steadied, though exhaustion pressed behind her eyes. She rubbed at her temple again, a soft groan escaped her, barely audible. The motion betrayed her weariness more than her words ever could.
