Chapter 13

Gaia cannot be controlled like everyone else and forced into a mold she doesn’t agree to. Her environment tried everything to get her to submit: abuse, humiliation, punishment, withholding, revenge, and neglect. It worked when she was growing up as a child, but it no longer made sense as she became an adult. Treating James the way she was treated was just atrocious and abhorrent in her eyes, especially his unbridled love, trust, and loyalty. He needed her for his own survival, protection, nourishment, and growth.

She noticed that she never had what her friends had: a positive interaction with her family. Her friends had a relationship with her own parents/siblings, they were liked and respected by their family, and they were there when they needed help. Gaia never had that since she was treated like shit. She always wondered why her family didn’t like her, but it was a different case outside of her home.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

She was surrounded by people who were in a negative state: they hated their life, family, friends. They always seemed to want more than what they had. They were never happy with anything. Gaia was grateful for what she did have since she barely had anything to begin with. Most of those things were either stolen or withheld from her. She deserved to be happy and abundant with the means provided to her caretakers, but they chose to use that on themselves instead of giving it to Gaia where it rightfully belonged. Those things were for her, not them. They had the power and ability to make her happy but they chose not to. Instead, they chose her fate as misery: whatever she loved would be taken from her. Whatever she needed to be happy was attacked. Whoever supported her was attacked. That way, the idea of her being undesirable, unlovable, and undeserving of anything positive would be confirmed, like her family kept doing.
