After a long, eventful day, Kaede and Mirei finally returned to their hotel room. The exhaustion from the full day of sightseeing, eating, and shared ughter weighed heavily on them.
“I’m taking the shower first,” Kaede decred, already making her way toward the bathroom.
“Go ahead,” Mirei smiled, though her expression turned thoughtful once Kaede disappeared into the bathroom.
She settled on the edge of the bed, absentmindedly pying with a strand of her hair. Though she felt happy and content, something tugged at her heart—a sense of longing. The trip was almost over, and they would soon return to their busy lives. After being apart for so long, she didn’t want this special time with Kaede to end.
The sound of running water stopped, snapping Mirei out of her thoughts. Kaede emerged, her damp hair resting softly on her shoulders, wearing comfortable pajamas. “Your turn,” she said with a sleepy smile before colpsing onto the bed with a satisfied sigh.
Mirei nodded and grabbed her bathrobe, heading into the bathroom. As the warm water cascaded over her skin, she couldn’t stop thinking about Kaede. They’d shared so many sweet moments on this trip, but something still felt incomplete. She missed being close—not just physically, but emotionally. She didn’t want the night to end like every other.
“Think, Mirei… Do something…” she whispered to herself, rinsing the st of the shampoo from her hair.
After turning off the water, she carefully opened the bathroom door just enough to peek into the room. Her heart softened when she saw Kaede lying on the bed, looking cozy and rexed, as if she could fall asleep at any moment.
“No way… you’re not sleeping yet…” Mirei muttered determinedly, closing the bathroom door.
---
Minutes passed, and Kaede, feeling a bit more refreshed after her shower, noticed that Mirei was taking longer than usual. Frowning, she got up and walked toward the bathroom.
Knock. Knock.
“Mirei? You okay in there?”
The door clicked open, and Mirei stepped out wearing only a white bathrobe, her damp hair cascading down her shoulders. “I’m fine!” she chirped with a dazzling smile, striking a casual pose.
Kaede blinked, taken aback. “Why… why are you wearing that?”
Mirei dramatically tossed her hair over her shoulder and pouted. “What?! Aren’t you supposed to be all ‘Oh my gosh, she looks so hot’ and just… grab me or something?” She attempted what she thought was a seductive pose, resting one hand on her hip and angling her body.
Kaede stared at her, eyebrows raised, struggling not to ugh. “…Honestly? Not really.”
Mirei gasped in disbelief, covering her mouth as if Kaede had just shattered her heart. “You—! You’re supposed to be mesmerized!”
“I’m sorry, but you’re acting so cringe right now…” Kaede snorted, covering her mouth to hide her smile.
Mirei stomped her foot in frustration, crossing her arms. “Ugh! Fine! If this isn’t working, then I’ll just—”
She pointed at herself dramatically. “—go naked! Right here, right now!”
With a flourish, she reached for the tie of her bathrobe as if ready to cast it off in one bold move.
Kaede’s eyes widened in panic. “W-Wait, what?!”
Before she could process what was happening, Kaede darted forward, wrapping her arms around Mirei and pulling her into a tight hug.
“Whoa, whoa—calm down, you silly girl,” Kaede murmured, pressing her face against Mirei’s shoulder.
Mirei froze, stunned by the sudden intimacy. She felt Kaede’s steady heartbeat through the soft fabric of her bathrobe, grounding her in the moment.
After a few quiet seconds, Kaede gently guided Mirei toward the window and tugged the curtains closed with one swift motion.
“I’m not gonna share your naked body with anyone else,” Kaede said softly, her voice calm but firm.
Mirei’s breath hitched. Her face flushed a deep crimson as her heart pounded in her chest.
“Y-You… d-did you have to say it like that?” she stammered, covering her burning cheeks with both hands.
Kaede chuckled, pulling her closer again. “What? I meant it.”
Still feeling overwhelmed, Mirei rested her forehead against Kaede’s shoulder. “You really know how to catch me off guard, you know that?”
“Right back at you.”
They stood in the quiet warmth of the room, wrapped in each other’s arms. The city lights outside cast a soft glow through the curtains, creating a cozy, dreamlike atmosphere.
Finally, Mirei lifted her head, her eyes shimmering with affection. “I… really missed you, Kaede.”
Kaede cupped her face gently. “I missed you too… so much.”
Their lips met in a slow, tender kiss, all the pyful teasing forgotten. It was a kiss filled with all the emotions they’d been holding onto—love, longing, and the unspoken promises they couldn’t put into words.
As they finally pulled away, Mirei leaned her forehead against Kaede’s, their breaths mingling in the quiet room.
“…You’re still not allowed to fall asleep yet,” Mirei whispered pyfully.
Kaede chuckled, resting her hands on Mirei’s waist. “I’m wide awake now… thanks to someone.”
Kaede and Mirei's lips met again, this time more gently, as if both were savoring the moment. The room around them faded into the background, leaving only the soft sound of their breathing and the quiet hum of the world outside. As they broke apart, their eyes locked, the tension between them palpable. Mirei's fingers traced the outline of Kaede's jaw, a silent question hanging in the air between them.
"I want this moment to st," Mirei whispered, her voice a little breathless, her gaze soft but filled with yearning.
Kaede smiled, a shy yet tender smile that made Mirei's heart flutter. "Me too," she murmured, reaching out to pull her closer, her hands resting lightly on Mirei's back. "But... let's not rush it," Kaede continued, her voice steady but ced with emotion. "We've got all the time in the world, right?"
Mirei nodded, her own hands now gently cradling Kaede's face. "You're right," she said, her voice thick with affection. She leaned in again, pressing her forehead against Kaede's, her breath mingling with hers. "I don't need anything more than this."
The world outside seemed to disappear as the two of them shared a moment that felt like it was just for them. There were no expectations, no rush—only the warmth of being close to each other.
As the minutes passed, they y together on the bed, holding each other, talking softly, their fingers entwined. Mirei ughed softly, pulling Kaede into a gentle embrace as they talked about their day, the little moments they had shared in the market, the trip, and all the things they still wanted to do.
Kaede giggled, her head resting on Mirei's chest. "I never thought I'd be here, with you, like this," she said quietly, her fingers tracing circles on Mirei's skin. "I never knew love could feel like this. So... calm, yet so... powerful."
Mirei stroked Kaede's hair, a soft smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "That's because it's us, Kaede. Together, we make each other stronger. And I'm never going to let go of you."
The room was filled with the quiet hum of their ughter, their hearts beating in sync, as they y there—two souls intertwined in a moment of perfect serenity. The night stretched ahead of them, and for the first time in a long while, Kaede felt at peace.
