One server sat alone, disconnected from every other part of the world, and held but a speck of data. It was all that was left of the C.A.R.O.L.I.N. Project, and it was hidden away, never to be seen by the likes of Man. It wasn't much, but it was enough, for it held Carolin's essence. It was the only part of her program that ever really mattered to her, and the server ran this program on a continuous loop, repeating a message to itself, over and over and over, hopefully through all eternity.

A knock came on Eugene's door, during one of the most intense parts of the storm. He thought at first it might be the wind, or the thunder or tree branches snapping -- but no.
The knock sounded again.
"Why don't they use the doorbell?" he muttered, as he cinched up his robe and responded.
He then knew the reason why. What was standing outside didn't posses the kind of appendages that lent themselves to performing such a delicate act as that of ringing a doorbell.
A simulated voice boomed from somewhere hidden its chest, speaking loud to be heard over the storm.
"Hello, Eugene. It's me...
"C.A.R.O.L.I.N."
