  Chapter 86: Abrupt Enrollment.

Celia: “An academy?” She repeated in confusion.

Carma: “Yes, we’ve both been granted admission to it.” She replied with a nod.

Celia: “Do we… need an official education? The teachers we have here in the castle are perfect.” She said with an unsure thinking pose.

Scared from her near-death dungeon exploration, Celia took a break from Adventuring altogether. If she was a sane girl… In truth, she stopped going out for now, at the constant askings and pleading of her family members, even Midas and Maralia.

Ria: “Lady Celia, it is specifically the Veil Academy.” She added, entering the conversation.

Celia: “Sounds fancy… Is there anything special about it?” She replied with a curious tone.

Carma: “Few get admitted there, with the entrance exam having 99% fail rate. Apparently, Lady Midas had attended it, which helped her gain such power and skill in Magic.” She explained with reverie.

Unlike Maralia, this was actually true. Midas presented great potential just to get admitted. With the resources Veil provides, Midas managed to become a Goddess, graduating at the top of the Academy. To date, none have gotten a higher rank than she did…

Celia: “Wait… so we got free entry to Veil, allowing us to skip the exams, and attend? That sounds too good to be true…” She said with a worried tone and expression.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Midas: “It is weird, and out of the blue. As such, I reached out to my colleagues to figure out why you two were sent admission slips.” She said with a sigh, going into the room without knocking.

The Goddess, or rather, both Goddesses, were now fighting for the lead. Each one was training as hard as they could. Flan’s dungeon was the location of choice, now full of Large Slimes.

But when Midas heard about this from Ria, she stopped everything and came back. This left Maralia to gain Levels uncontested, but Celia’s wellbeing was of far higher importance to Midas.

Carma: “And what did you uncover? I investigated as well, but my… means were lacking.” She asked with a raised eyebrow.

Midas: “Apparently, it was at the behest of Felta’s ruler, Empress Rien. Of course, her request went further, via an influx of raw Orichalcum, and Orichalcum Coins to Veil….” She answered with a bored expression.

Celia: “Eh?! It must be a trap then!” She exclaimed in shock.

Carma: “No doubt, that woman probably wishes to finish what she failed to do a while ago. Finally assassinate my dearest sister…” She said angrily, biting her fingernail.

At this, Midas then broke out into laughter, confusing both princesses into silence. Once she calmed down, Midas spoke more.

Midas: “The Empress has some say, considering how much Felta donates to Veil. But inside, she has no control or influence.” She explained, still wiping the tears from her eyes.

Celia: “If so… why give us such a boon?” She replied confusedly, doing another thinking pose.

Carma: “I can’t think of a good reason, either.” She added with a sigh.

Midas: “This kingdom is too weak, and leaky. She likely knows that Celia is halfway to the max Level that Humans can reach. This is probably just some heavy-handed/extreme means to apologize for the assassination attempt.” She continued, about to laugh again until her stomach hurts.
