Chapter 88: A Struggle Within.
Celia: “Do you think… that they will overcome their selfishness?” She asked with an unsure tone and expression.
Guanyu: “If this were a Cultivation world, we’d call that an Inner Demon. Something to be defeated.” She replied, feeding her wife a piece of fruit, sealing off her sad mouth for a bit.
Celia: “…”
Guanyu: “However, such things are not simple concepts outside of Cultivation worlds. Regardless of if they can overcome this or not… at the very least, for you, they will try.” She continued, tone that of pure coaxing.
Celia had made many mistakes in each and every single one of her lives. But when it comes to the rest of the family… Celia is honestly a saint in comparison.
With her unclouded experience in this life, and the returned memories of the last one… Celia knew that, in the end, it was selfishness that always caused the family to have issues, both major and minor.
Guanyu: “Though, you aren’t free from blame.” She said with a serious tone.
Celia: “Eh?… I thought that you wanted to console me. Not bash my tarnished image and self-respect even further…” She replied with a pout.
Guanyu: “Oh, I am merely speaking the truth. Selfishness… is the key issue here. After all, everything outside of the family… mostly works out.” She continued, taking a bite of fruit, finding the taste to be pretty good.

Celia: “Are you saying that… I am selfish as well?” She asked with a confused expression.
Wait… what is this Cultivator saying? Celia isn’t selfish… If she was… then Celia would have abandoned a majority of her absurd family long ago!
Guanyu: “That isn’t what I mean. You… lack most things, Human emotions, desires, selfishness being one of them.” She calmly denied.
Celia: “I… can’t refute that.” She replied with an embarrassed tone.
Guanyu: “A Cultivator, lacking these fundamental things… depending on their path, would be considered a high level.” She added with a sigh.
Celia: “Oh… Since I am not a Cultivator, what does that make me?” She replied with a thinking pose, not expecting her wife to answer.
Guanyu: “Broken.” She instantly and nonchalantly answered.
Celia: “…”
Guanyu: “A machine, or perhaps… a concept. One that pretends to be a person. Failing in most aspects of this guise, while overly excelling in others.” She further added.
Hmm… I don’t fully agree with Guanyu’s words, but she is onto something. I mean, I know what Celia actually is, and why she is like this. Guanyu is close to the truth…
Guanyu: “Celia, for now, none of that matters.” She returned to coaxing once more.
Celia: “How exactly could that be true? I feel like… not knowing what I am… is a pretty bad knowledge gap.” She said with a conflicted tone.
Guanyu: “All things reveal themselves with time, dear. Your truth will come about, either happy or sad, eventually.” She replied, now lovingly rubbing her wife’s head.
Celia: “…”
Guanyu: “And when that time arrives… I shall be there by your side to help you through it, whatever it may be. As will the others. This… this is something that you, our pillar, can be absolutely certain of.” She continued, pouring out boundless love, ensuring that Celia is well and truly coaxed into happiness, as the woman deserves.
