Chapter 4 The Adventurers Guild

As night fell Beornia led Nova to the bedroom she was in before. There were a few priests and priestess’ finding spots on the beds to y down or changing into bed clothes. They put their dirty clothes in a box.

“Maybe you should find somewhere else to sleep,” the head priest told Nova, clearly uncomfortable.“She is a devout servant of the gods just as us. I don’t know why you are refusing her a pce to sleep,” Beornia spoke up in defense of Nova.“My offer still stands,” Nova teased the head priest. He immediately paled, and went to the bed that was furthest in the room.“What?” Beornia asked, confused.“That’s a secret,” Nova said, putting her index finger in front of her mysterious smile. “Everyone just sleeps in beds together!” Nova stated feeling that something was off about the situation.“It’s an efficient use of space and resources. It’s not like everyone can have their own room. We are not nobles,” Beornia replied with an audible sigh. “If it makes you more comfortable I will find an edge for you.”“Please do,” Nova replied.

Beornia id down near the edge of one of the beds. She patted the linen sheet right beside her as an invitation. Nova gave her a tired smile.“I didn’t expect this kind of sleeping arrangement,” Nova said to Beornia quietly.“It was a shock for me too when I first joined the temple,” Beornia replied.“Were you a princess that ran away from home to become a knight?” Nova asked as her eyes gleamed with excitement.“Kinda,” Beornia said shyly. “When I was ten one of my older sisters got married off to a prince. He was not a good man. I slipped out on the wedding night disguised as a maid, and made my vow of celibacy, disowning my family. The goddess has been favorable to me ever since,”“How did your family react?” Nova asked.“I was banished so was everyone that worked at the capital’s temple,” Beornia responded.“That sounds extreme,” Nova noted.“They got off easy since they were servants of the gods. A lot of servants in the pace were executed along with the knight that was supposed to be guarding me,” Beornia said as a tear threatened to trickle out of her pretty green eyes.“It’s okay, kids don’t think about how their actions affect other people,” Nova said as she pulled Beornia into an embrace.“You are very kind,” Beornia said as tears trickled down her face.

Nova fell asleep with the padin in her arms. Her dreams were filled with people she couldn’t recognize, and technology she couldn’t remember. Leaving Nova very confused as she woke up. Until the dreams faded from memory.

“We should get you registered at the adventurers guild this morning,” Beornia said, resting her head on her hand when Nova woke up.Nova groggily nodded at Beornia. I need coffee. What is that? Ugh I hate how fleeting my memory is. Instead of drinking coffee she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes while stretching.“Goddess she is adorable in the morning,” Beornia said, barely audible.“What?” Nova’s enhanced succubus hearing caught everything. Both of the girls turned away from each other hiding their blush.“I see both of you are awake, stop flirting, and get dressed,” A red eyed Juniper said.Beornia just rolled her eyes.“You are one to talk,” Nova said grumpily. Suddenly conscience of a bubbling desire to take both Juniper and Beornia right there. Ugh why does my body have to be so gross. It's just so tingly everywhere. Beornia could gently dominate me. While I tear a new one into that annoying avatar. Stop! That is not comfortable at all. Nova spped her cheeks hard, letting out a moan.“Are you okay?” Beornia asked as she put her armor on.“Not really, Is there something else I can wear?” Nova asked, looking down at her disheveled nightgown.“Find any clothes that fit. Clothes are communal at the temple,” Beornia responded as she tied her sword belt over her hauberk. “The equipment I use is also owned by the temple,” Beornia expined.

Down the temple hill, and right across the street stood a typical medieval building with the second story over-shadowing the road. A sign with a red and blue sword crossed hung from it. Beornia led the way into the building as Nova followed with Juniper behind her.

The inside was exactly what you would expect from an adventurers guild. There was a quest board to the left with wooden pcards hanging by linen string from hooks. To the right was a communal area with benches, stools and tables. In the middle was a counter with a big titty receptionist sitting behind it. There were a few adventurers milling about. Wearing chainmail, gambesons, or no armor at all. Most of them carried a helmet with a few helmets sitting on the tables. Nova gagged at the musty smell of the pce.

“How can I help you Beornia?” The big titty receptionist asked.“My friend here, Nova, wants to register with the guild,” Beornia expined.“My name is Rose. A pleasure to meet you,” The receptionist addressed Nova with a friendly smile.Nova smiled back at Rose while she shook her offered hand.“I have a few questions to ask you,” Rose expined as she got out a rge wooden pcard and a smaller one. “Where do you come from?”“I’m not sure. I-I can’t remember?” Nova said while trying to get a firm grip on her repressed memories.“I will just put Nova down as your name then,” Rose waited for Nova to nod. She delicately drew fming letters in the air right above each board. The letters sunk into the boards when she finished. Nova looked very closely intrigued by the magic. “It’s a very low level fire spell anyone can learn.” Rose said as she noticed Nova’s interest. “If you have an interest in magic we can put up a request for you to be accessed”“Couldn’t you just use a magic tool like an orb or something?” Nova’s mouth moved before her brain could suppress it. She shook her head feeling a slight headache, as the forbidden knowledge became inaccessible.“Magic tools to measure someone’s power are very expensive and prone to failure; they are simply out of reach for commoners like us,” Rose Expined.“Do you have any css, role or ability you want on your pque?” Rose asked.Nova looked to her companions for help.“You can put down Cleric at this point,” Juniper offered.“Cleric is fine,” Nova assented.Rose burned Cleric under Nova’s name and an F in the top right corner of the Pque “New adventurers start at rank F. You may only accept quests one rank above or below your rank, However you may accompany other adventurers on their quests and get some credit. We will burn tallies of your credit into your pque as you complete quests,” She handed Nova her new pque.

The pque had a seven digit identification number on the back. “One st thing, if you want to get your magical affinities assessed. You can put in a request to the guild. The current rate is around three faeries. The guild may help with that cost for individuals that show promise,” Rose said.“I’m afraid I don’t have any coins,” Nova responded.“The temple covers magical assessments for its members,” Juniper offered.“I would hate to steal from the gods. I have a secret to share with you,” Rose got up off her stool. She leaned on the counter with her arms toward Nova her cleavage dropped a bit giving everyone present a nice view. “There is a wood elf in town. They take all requests for free. I could submit a specific request for him from you,” Rose talked quietly to Nova“The-that would be guh-great thank you,” Nova replied blushing in discomfort as she fought her impulses to look at Rose’s cleavage.

Beornia took the stunned Nova firmly by the hand letting her displeasure known as she huffed. She dragged Nova toward the quest board with her.“I think herb gathering is good for a first request,” Beornia said.“Slimes are good for a beginner. We wouldn’t want Nova to have a boring first request,” Juniper said with a lewd smirk.“Slimes have a tendency to melt one's clothes, and they leave icky goop all over your body,” Beornia replied, making her discomfort clear.“I think the slimes are more interesting, but touching sticky fluid sounds gross,” Nova said with a shudder while she made a disgusted face, and flicked her thumbs with her middle fingers. “Why don’t we do a routine goblin extermination,” Nova said as she picked a pcard that had a few of the same pcards on a hook.

The pcard read, Routine Goblin Extermination, Rank F, bring goblin left ears as proof of extermination. Rewards, one quart per goblin ear turned in.“I guess we could do that,” Beornia said with a dissatisfied frown.“Goblins are really smelly, But I promised the goddess I would look after you…” Juniper said heroically. So it was decided Nova’s first quest would be hunting goblins.
