  “Miss, this is our only recording before the attack. It’s unclear if a manifesto was involved,” says a weary man in formal attire. The dimly lit room, thick with cigarette smoke, crackles with tension. The woman behind the desk, facing away, hums a short tune without acknowledging him.

  “I understand. Enjoy the rest of your night,” she says, waving him away. He exits quickly, leaving her alone to reflect on the recent events before humming the same melody.
