'The idea of evil.'
Thita couldn't help but be troubled after hearing what the old man had told him. After hearing the term, he spent a couple more minutes speaking with him, but he couldn't gather enough information to process what demons and the idea of evil were exactly.
In the end, the old man turned out to be more willing to tell him how a slave would be beneficial for him rather than helping him understand more about the term. It seemed that this was a sensitive topic for him, or maybe he just though that he already knew what it was.
Still, he couldn't say that his encounter with the old man wasn't beneficial since he not only learned that there was some sort of being called a demon, but he also learned that he could afford to buy another human, which would follow every order he gave him.
It appeared that there was some sort of process involving magic which with certain conditions, could make any being completely under your control.
This information especially, picked Thita's interest a great deal, not only because that meant that he could have a companion who would do everything he said, but also because he could also become that companion for someone else if he wasn't careful.
Pushing all the information that he gained from the old man to the side, Thita decided to head towards the Adventure Guild once again. This time though, his purpose wasn't to do any dangerous mission, but instead, to do something safer.
He was still injured from yesterday's events and even though, he could still put on a fight, he decided against it. After all, he had enough money to last him for a few more days, and exploring the town while also gaining some extra cash was way more than ideal at the moment.
Pushing the door of the guild open, Thita headed straight toward the quest board with ca alm expression. This time though, he decided not to rush and instead, spend some time examining all the quests and their information.
Sure enough, this turned out being the right choice since he did in fact notice lots of information that he previously overlooked. The quest board seemed to be filled with tons of information and descriptions about monsters and animals and it even had a part of it dedicated to them.
'I see, so demons seem to actually exist.'
Despite all the information that the quest board gave though, Thita's interest was drawn by several mentions about demons. Unlike monsters and animals, demons didn't have an area reserved for them and Thita only spotted them below several quests.
Still, even though seeing the word 'demon' written on the board, it wasn't enough to make Thita certain about what they were. This was because, the only time he saw the word 'demon', was under several quests and most of them said stuff like 'The cause of the problem that the adventurers had to solve might have been caused by demons' or 'There might be demons in that area'.

Such mentions weren't nearly enough to prove their existence though and Thita decided not to accept that they exist for now. Believing in fairy tails wasn't really ideal at the moment despite his situation seemed to resemble one.
Taking his eyes off the combat quests, Thita decided to check out quests that he might actually do, and surely enough, a lot of quests that he saw next picked his interest. It didn't take long for him to decide on one and after picking it up, he went towards the reception desk to officially start it.

"Be careful with those, boy! They are extremely fragile! I can't afford to new ones if you break them and I don't want to make you pay for them."
With both his hands occupied at the moment, Thita nodded and continued walking towards the nearby carriage.
Getting closer towards it, he finally reached it and placed down carefully the items that he was assigned to carry.
"Finally someone who knows what the word careful means. If only all adventures were like you!"
Glancing towards the man who seemed no younger than seventy, Thita spoke.
"How come someone with such a great house is moving away?"
Hearing his question and scratching his white beard for a moment, the man responded calmly.
"Well it was a great house indeed but I can't bring myself to live here anymore. After my wife's death and having my son move to the capital after becoming a high-rank guard, this place has become very lonely. Moving to the capital and reuniting with some of my old friends sound more than ideal to me, rather than staying in this old and boring place."
Hearing his words, Thita couldn't help but ask: "The capital? How far away is this place again?"
Glancing towards Thita, the old man spoke once again with a thoughtful expression.
"Well, if you are planning to go there with a carriage, I suppose it would take around 2 days with today's roads. Are you perhaps trying to go here yourself?"
"Maybe in the near future. For now, I am fine with living here."
"If you want my advice, you should leave this place and visit the capital as soon as possible. This town is way too close to the border of our nation and despite being a dream place for those who want to make a fortune as adventurers, it's not worth the danger."
Hearing the old man's reason, Thita decided to ask him just in case. "What kind of danger?"
"Well, as you probably already know, this town is very close to several towns, or whatever they are called, in which demi-humans live. These people aren't known for being peaceful and I don't want to be any way near them when they decide to attack us.
The capital is way more safe than this place and unless you are a high-rank adventurer, being here is no way near ideal. If I were you, I would have already left and I would have found a high-paying job in the capital. It has way more variety in jobs after all."
Hearing him, Thita couldn't help but agree with his reasoning. If what he said was indeed true, it might be better to move to the capital himself. Still, wasn't the capital the center of a tragedy that happened a couple of decades ago?
'I can't make rush decisions based on what I heard. I need more information and knowledge before I decide. Not yet. I don't know enough yet.'
After heir little chat, Thita headed back inside the house to pick up some more items to pack. After all, he had to worry more about the present. It wasn't time yet, to think about the future.
