Chapter 22: Teleportation

‘So, what exactly am I supposed to do?’

Looking towards the trees a small distance away from him, Thita couldn't help but feel confused and troubled.

He had decided to try to teleport for the first time, but this turned out to be more troublesome than he expected.

‘So, do I just think of the place that I want to go to and I just get teleported there or is there some sort of process that I have to do beforehand?’

Needless to say, he was completely clueless. That didn't stop him from experimenting though.

Closing his eyes while also being aware of his surroundings, Thita began concentrating and trying to imagine the place that he wanted to go to. It wasn't somewhere far though, just a few meters away from him.

He began trying to create an image of the place that he wanted to go to, with as many details as he could and after achieving it, he opened his eyes, full of expectations.

  ‘... maybe I am doing something wrong…’

Needless to say, that didn't work.

‘No, maybe I should take a different approach. What I want to do is to teleport from one place to another, so maybe I shouldn't just think of the place that I want to go to, but also take into account the place that I am currently in.’

He wasn't sure if this had to do anything with teleporting though, or even why he thought of such a solution, but it was worth a try. It wasn't like he had thought of any other solutions after all.

This time, while keeping his eyes open, he started repeating what he did a few seconds ago, but this time, he also took into account his current location.

Trying to make both images vivid in his mind, he began, trying to connect them. He wasn't sure why he was doing such a thing and why it felt kind of natural, but he didn't question it and proceeded to continue doing what his instinct told him to do.

Both places seemed to slowly merge in his head, as if there wasn't any distance separating them from each other. As if there was a bridge, slowly being built between them, just for the sake of connecting them.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

At the same time, the space in front of Thita began to change, and a small part of the scenery in front of him began rotating, creating some sort of wormhole, and in the middle of the wormhole, some sort of scenery was starting to appear.

In a matter of seconds, after the process began, a wormhole projecting the image of the place that Thita wanted to go to, had appeared right in front of him.

‘Well, would you look at that?’

Looking towards the strange phenomenon happening in front of his eyes, Thita couldn't help but be amazed with his new ability.

‘So this is what he meant by saying some sort of teleportation. Still, this is far better than I imagined.’

Not breaking his concentration and beginning to move towards it, Thita extended his hand through it and surely enough, it seemed to have appeared in the area he wanted to go to.

Passing his whole body through it, Thita had completely reached his destination, and seconds after, the portal closed without leaving a single trace of its existence.

‘I see. Turns out this is more than useful indeed.’

Glancing around while also feeling exhausted, Thita was more than satisfied with what he was capable of.

‘Still, I mustn't use it recklessly and rely too much on it. After all, the exhaustion that I feel right now is probably due to having my mana drained.’

Shaking off the exhaustion, Thita took out one of the crystals from his pocket and glanced at it. Closing his palm and applying pressure to it, the small and not that sturdy crystal, couldn't help but shatter due to the pressure.

At the same time, Thita suddenly felt refreshed, as if the exhaustion that had come from before has been decreased by a noticeable amount.

‘So it's true. This might come in handy in the future.’

He had learned by asking around that the crystals that monsters dropped contained pure mana, which was useful for a lot of things, with one of them being the restoration of fatigue caused by using mana.

Despite not being as effective though, it could be extremely helpful in situations that didn't allow room for rest, since resting was the main way to restore one's mana drainage.

Despite all that though, Thita decided not to smash any more, since it would be far more useful to sell them, rather than using them. So, with his guard raised, Thita decided to head back to the town to redeem his rewards for clearing the quest, while also selling his loot.

‘The sun is still high, so I have plenty of time ahead of me for today. I should probably complete one more quest then. After all, thanks to that test, teleportation is officially in my arsenal.’

Redeeming his rewards and Glancing towards the quests board, Thita picked up a quest that met his standards and went to the reception desk to officially start it.

It wasn't much, just a D rank quest that involved slaying a few wolves inside a small cave. The ones that submitted also said that the specific wolves were weak, so it shouldn't cause much trouble. Even if it proved to be wrong though, this time he could just teleport away.

Sure the last time he fought with wolves, it didn't go as planned, but this time, it would be different. He wasn't unprepared after all.
