After a series of small asteroids impact around the globe. They carry with them a spore that quickly grows a purple flower known as the Bloom. Within days people start dying in waves. Marshall is a survivor, trying to scrape together a life in the post Bloom word. Heartbroken lost and suffering panic attacks. He works to shut the world out not allowing himself to get close to anyone. He tries to hide from the world, by only working the night watch guard duty, and living by himsef away from the rest of community his job is to protect. He finds comfort in music, movies and his journals. When the pains gets to much he turns to alcohol to drown out his feelings and thoughts of the old world. His world changes when he rescues a young woman similar to him. She clings to him for protection, but he doesn’t know if he is ready to let someone in again.
