Volume 9. Chapter 13: Doing As The Butterflies Do. (Chapter 814.)

Chapter 13: Doing As The Butterflies Do.

Carma: “During Evolution, you’re very vulnerable, Celia. As such, we’ll be protecting you for this.” She informed with a serious tone.

Midas and Maralia didn’t care much about Evolutions. Before, they were brutal, the most pain one could experience. Though, Runey and Xena got rid of this problem.

It was merely just a side effect of the System being poorly funded, you see. Either way, like a newborn about to hatch from an egg, if you wanted to kill a Higher Being, the best time was during their Evolution.

Celia: “Alright. I’ll start the Evolution now.” She replied with a nod, before then accepting the prompt.

Once she did so, Celia fell into a deep sleep. Slowly, a golden cacoon enveloped her, making the woman feel warmth and superb comfort.

Maralia: “Why is… the Evolution Cradle gold? Isn’t it always pure white?” She asked with a thinking pose.

Midas: “Typically, yes. I haven’t seen this before, either. Perhaps… it has something to do with her luck?” She added, also confused.

Carma: “…” “Why aren’t they worried? Isn’t Evolving dangerous?” She thought with grand conflictions.

Midas delayed Carma’s Evolution into a Goddess… for fun. Specifically, she warned her that there was a chance of dying if one failed to Evolve. This was, as you’d expect, false. Though not entirely. As if someone did try to destroy your Evolution Cradle, death would be guaranteed.

Mena: “Wow… this is more impressive than the previous method of Evolving.” She mused with a smile.

Alisa: “Is it? I don’t recall…” She replied with a groan.

Apart from Celia, all of her family members were aware of the truth. In the end, this life was a chance to not fail their dearest again. From that, there was no reason to keep secrets between each other, only doing so to Celia, just to protect her.

Even without the memories, Xena was now certain that cleansed Souls, if the memories are strong enough, still have them in some capacity. This was evident in how Celia accepted Mena as her daughter, making not a single complaint nor note about it. The woman didn’t think about it for a second…

  A Few Weeks Later.

Celia: “…I want to sleep longer.” She said after yawning widely.

  Boom!

Surrounding Celia was… a war. People flying around, Magic blasting away the land and living beings. They wore strange clothes, which Celia didn’t recognize at all.

Guanyu: “Celia, fear not. I have accidentally dragged you into my Heart Demon…” She explained, regretful.

Celia: “Heart Demon?” She repeated with a head tilt.

Guanyu: “Hm… it is like an evil spirit that attempts to destroy my sanity, eventually taking over my body. Though, it is too weak.” She answered with a haughty tone.

  Snap!

Snapping her fingers, Guanyu destroyed the Heart Demon, causing Celia to begin to wake up. This wasn’t the first one she’s faced, and likely wouldn’t be the last…
