Chapter 48: The Slow Sea Life.
Unlike Humans, the Merfolk, which is the race that Fiona and her people are, live… forever. Upon death, they’d just be reborn some place safe within the ocean. And it’d only take a year for them to mature into adulthood, being brought back in the form of a child.
From this, Fiona’s people live very leisurely lives. Their Empress, that being the woman who kidnapped Celia, was millions of years old, in fact. All these benefits… comes with a cost, though. That being… the max Level for Merfolk was 50,000, with not a single one ever getting close to that absurd Level.
Celia: “Hm… that’s pretty interesting. Perhaps, if one of you Evolves… you can breathe above water?” She mused with a thinking pose.
Fiona: “We suspect as such, but… the amount of Exp required per Level is… very high. It was almost as if some Higher Being had played a trick against us, forcing me and my people to forever live in the water.” She replied with a resentful tone.
Living so peacefully, with the sea monsters at their beck and call, the Merfolk have no intentions of ever attempting to conquer the surface world. Fiona just merely wished to explore such places, Merfolk having exploration coded into their very Souls.
Celia: “Oh, I forgot to ask about what you brought me here for…” She said with an embarrassed tone.

Fiona: “Hm? I just need you to resign the treaty.” She answered nonchalantly.
Celia: “…”
Her group never mentioned the Merfolk getting another royal to redo the treaty, which confused Celia to no end. “Did that ancient society somehow manage to make the treaty last for THAT long?” She thought, half shocked, mostly amused.
Celia: “Wait… what do you, or rather, your people, get for signing this treaty? It seems like the surface world is… the only ones benefiting from it.” She asked with a serious tone.
Fiona: “Merfolk cannot get each other pregnant, Princess Celia. We require females of other Humanoid races… to continue our race.” She answered with a red face.
While still embarrassed, the Empress explained more to Celia. Merfolk can’t be on land… normally. But that ancient society had a temporary cure for this aliment, you see.
Thankfully, it was in the form of a potion, and was very easy to manufacture. After ingesting the potion, a Merfolk person, which was a race of females only, would go to the surface, and then find themselves a mate.
Merfolk were able to give non-water-breathers the ability to breathe underwater, but that method, the sole one… was too intimate. It wasn’t something that Fiona could just do to Princess Celia, I mean.
Celia: “You’ve run out of the potion?” She exclaimed in shock. “Their supply must have been massive…” She mused in her mind with a broken tone.
Fiona: “That’s right. Once you sign the treaty, then you’ll return to the surface, procure the Air Potions, and deliver them to us.” She continued, excitedly.
Celia: “H-how much… many Air Potions do you require?” She nervously replied.
Fiona: “Let me think… The last shipment was… over 5,000,000 Air Potions.” She answered like her words were normal.
