Chapter 68: A Far Better Goose.
Sava was a golden goose, one which Vern still benefits from to this very day. “Celia is even better…” She secretly thought.
If Sava was golden, then Celia was a pure, perfectly forged, Orichalcum goose. Vern was more than willing to give up everything to get a chance at gaining alms from Celia, you see…
Vern: “Those of the court, my argument for Miss Runey’s innocence is as follows:…” She got cut off.
Judge A: “In my tenure of presiding over this court… I have yet to see such a blatant disregarding of the law.” She said with a scoff.
Judge B: “I agree. At most… I’ve only seen one person who committed the crime twice, while Miss Runey has done it millions upon millions of times…” She added, also furious.
In total, thirty judges, which get changed out each time, oversee every case, all at least Highest Goddesses/Gods. Before Vern could speak more, she had to wait for all of them to add their comments, mostly being ones of disgust.
Vern: “Miss Runey, can you kill anyone who has a System, regardless of their power or Evolution?” She asked with an evil, knowing smile.
Every Judge, and the Jury: “( ? _ ? )”

Vern: “Well, can you, Miss Runey?” She repeated the question, smug to all hell.
Runey: “Hm? Yeah, I can.” She nodded in reply, her honest words clear to those in the courtroom.
Every Judge, and the Jury, again: “(O.o)”
Vern: “Are there any restrictions to this right of yours, Miss Runey?” She asked, happy that her guess was correct.
Prior to this session, Vern didn’t inform Runey of her plan. Runey was still too foolish, a little lamb. Letting the silly woman in on the plan would… only endanger it, so Vern was tightlipped until now.
Runey: “Let me check… There don’t seem to be any restrictions. This option was for an impartial, uncaring AI, without a personality, after all.” She finally answered, after fiddling with the System Core’s interface.
Vern: “What about punishments for doing so? Using that option, I mean.” She asked with a head tilt, now assured that Runey will be declared innocent.
Runey: “It only has benefits.” She replied, still innocent.
Vern: “Such as?” She said, nudging the girl a bit.
Runey: “Whomever I kill via this method, I’ll get all their Exp, as well as any items they had. Frankly… seeing this now… it is truly a crazy option that I have at my fingertips.” She mused with a giggle, as she was, of course, not willing to ever actually use this option.
Vern: “So? What shall Miss Runey be charged with?” She asked, turning around to look at the judges.
Killing Runey wasn’t an option, as doing so would surely break the Systems, which so many here rely on. As such, the tune of everyone changed drastically.
Judge A: “Ah, Miss Runey is innocent, and, just in case she gets tried in a different court… fully pardoned.” She said with a forced smile.
Judge B: “Yes, yes. In fact, I propose that we abolish that antique, outdated immortal age of consent law. Those over the age of 18… are absolutely old and wise enough to consent, and be in a truthful, loving relationship with a Higher Being!” She excited added, hoping that Runey wouldn’t hold any grudges after this.
Runey: “???”
Illya: “???”
Erika: “???”
