Chapter 69: The Unspoken Reward Is Being Requested...

Vulely: “I feel as though we could have solved Runey’s court case without your help, Vern…” She said with a regretful sigh.

Vern: “Regardless of your feelings or thoughts on this matter, a service was given, and must be repaid.” She replied with a serious grin.

Xena: “…What exactly do you want? Seriously making us wait to hear about the payment until the case was over…” She said with some worry.

Vern: “I…” She could barely even start her reply.

  Woosh!

Sava then appeared before them, causing Vern to go silent. She could trick Vulely and Xena into agreeing, but Sava isn’t so easily fooled.

Sava: “Asking for Celia’s hand in marriage… is not something you can get, Vern.” She said with a stern tone and expression.

Vern: “Right… you accepted Celia as your daughter. Either way, what reasons do you have to prevent me from doing so? She is an adult, and that silly law was repealed…” She replied with her arms crossed.

Sava: “Name one wife of yours… that you managed to keep for more than a year.” She answered, smugly.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

  Vern: “…”

In truth, Vern wasn’t currently married. Though, she still considered those women to be her wives, since Vern has sexual relations with them from time to time.

Sava: “Have you ever loved someone, Vern?” She asked with a raised eyebrow, already knowing the answer.

Vern: “What?… You and me… we’ve dated, and even slept together before. How could you have not felt my love during that time?” She weakly replied.

Sava: “There was no love, merely lust. Not once did I see love reflected in your eyes… I am no prude, but, in a relationship, love and lust are almost always required. Missing either one… means that pairing will surely fall apart.” She explained, honestly sad that her friend lacked this aspect.

Vern: “This…” She couldn’t speak more than that.

Runey: “…” “While they’re arguing, I can go and fix all my fuck-ups! That way… they can’t yell at me…” She thought with great relief, soon vanishing without anyone noticing her disappearance.

Truthfully, Runey did her cheeky act with great skill. Or rather… everyone was mainly focused on the argument at hand to notice her swift absence.

Vern: “Fine, fine… I am just a lewd woman, who lacks the ability for love. At the very least, I can be her friend, correct?” She comprised with a groan.

Sava: “That is something that you can do, yes. I will not restrict friendship.” She agreed with a nod.

Xena: “Are we done here, then?” She asked with a raised eyebrow, tired beyond belief.

Vulely: “Done? With how Celia is… this is unlikely to be the only annoying thing that we have to deal with to help her…” She weakly added.

  Everyone: “…”

While they were all suffering in unison, Celia and her family were happily celebrating their recent ascensions, and newfound power. Though, someone was about to rain on their parade a bit…
