Volume 10. Chapter 59: Listening To Her Side Of The Story. (Chapter 960)

Chapter 59: Listening To Her Side Of The Story.

Her eyes started shining, and then I was forced to witness a horrible truth. Like Nemu and Celia… This woman, Eternanel… is also a Being of Pure Mana.

Eternanel: “Do you get it now?” She asked with an uncaring tone.

Narrator Vulely: “No, I don’t understand this at all. Nemu is supposed to be the first person of your kind, with Celia being the only other one in existence. Where do you fit in, and why must you kill us?” I denied with an angry expression, hoping my tone would get her to tell me more.

Eternanel: “I was created far before Nemu ever opened up her eyes. My role is to maintain balance, something which your family has long since destroyed.” She answered while looking wistfully at the sky.

Home’s skyline was always beautiful. It is hard to describe it, as words cannot even begin to do it justice. I could tell that… Eternanel wasn’t actually looking at the sky, though. As tears slowly fell down her face, my confusion only increased. Even stranger… Eternanel clearly wasn’t stalling for time, nor did she have any way to kill or prevent me from leaving this timeline.

Narrator Vulely: “Balance… Higher Beings are supposed to be above things such as that! Eternanel… do you mean to say that we aren’t? If so… what would be the point of gaining any power at all?!” I asked with righteous fury.

Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.

Eternanel: “There is a limit to all things, child. Is balance something that Higher Beings can mostly, if not completely ignore? Certainly. However, your family seeks no balance at all.” She replied with a sigh, still not gazing back at me.

Narrator Vulely: “We only desire peace and happiness for our friends and family. How does that go against your role? We have the power… but you’re saying that us attempting this… is a crime, one that you’ll stop dead in its tracks from ever being carried out?” I ask in reply, still fuming.

Eternanel: “I did not say that.” She instantly denied.

  Narrator Vulely: “…”

Eternanel: “I shall clarify; my role has been evoked, something that happens without my consent. To honor my position, I must kill your family. This family… includes my very own daughters, so do not think that this is a role I am pleased to be in.” She explained with a serious and remorseful tone, now looking at me directly.

Is she lying? Despite being wounded, it took Eternanel the same amount of time to come here and kill everyone. Or… did she? Focusing on the Mana in the air… I noticed the lack of… death.

Rest assured, Eternanel, in this timeline, murdered my entire family. They’re gone, dead, with even their Souls obliterated. But… everyone else survived. We were wrong!… Eternanel came to kill us, not to destroy Home.

Eternanel: “I had the means, yet no one else besides your family was slain by me. Yes, my orders are to take your lives, and no one is required to die.” She admitted after I brought this up to her.

  Narrator Vulely: “…”
