Volume 10. Chapter 39: Another Delayed Joke! (Chapter 940)

  Chapter 39: Another Delayed Joke!

Narrator Vulely: “What was your joke going to be, Celia?” I ask with a sigh.

Celia: “Ah, just that Guanyu’s words were setting up a flag, or jinxing us.” She answered, now laughing to herself.

Everyone Else In the Room, But Not Guanyu, Who Actually Laughed: “…”

Doing my best to not ruin my chances with Celia, my destined wife, I eased her fears. Rather, for normal people, Mortals or whatever, depending on their Dimension, are the only ones who have to worry about setting flags, or jinxing themselves.

Even the weakest Higher Being is so resistant to forces like Karmic Destiny… that people like us are pretty much 100% immune. If we weren’t, I’m sure that Celia would find some way to overcome, just as she always does.

Lia: “Celia, what do you plan on doing now? According to Runey and Xena… getting into Home is still a ways away for us.” She asked with a serious thinking pose.

Celia: “To get in, we just need one more Evolution. But… the System must be fixed, before we can then go out and hunt for EXP.” She answered with an excited tone.

Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.

With the Core no longer starved of Mana, nor is said Mana is being poorly used, the process of fixing the System is far easier now. However, it remains that those two haven’t fixed it just yet.

Though they can just go kill random Monsters, in different Dimensions right now… it wouldn’t be wise. Why? Because freezing the System makes fixing it even more of a breeze. Which is what Runey and Xena decided to do.

Nia: “I’d understand Runey slacking off… but is Xena being lazy as well? They should have fixed it by now…” She expressed with a deeply impatient tone.

Tia: “Yes, regardless of how complex… they are surely taking the process slow.” She added with a nod, with many of the other wives adding their own discontent as well.

Celia: “Wives… they went to go fix it merely a few hours ago…” She said with a slightly exasperated tone.

That’s right… Though, to be fair to all involved… time doesn’t really exist in this estate. It is probably the closest thing to Home around, with the Immortals doing their typical Immortal things, such as not feeling time pass normally. They feel it only when they’re waiting for something, I mean.

Xena: “Make no mistake. We’ve been working hard, but… Runey ran off an hour ago.” She said with an embarrassed tone and expression, after teleporting into the room.

Celia: “Ran off? Runey is unique, but not one to run away when we need her…” She mused with a confused tone.

Mena: “Except the many times that Runey has done just that…” She said with a deadpan expression and tone.

Alisa: “She’s done it more than once?!” She exclaimed with a shocked expression.

Guanyu: “Runey has her faults, just like us all. Celia is simply seeing Runey, her daughter, through mother-tinted glasses.” She explained with confidence, even using a modern-day phrase to enhance her point.

  Celia: “…”
