45 – Sink or swim (2)

  lirvothethird

Past experiences give meaning to today.

Bad experiences with chains and ropes. Sure, not all of those were from women. But it's a recipe for disaster whenever someone strong wants something, resulting in me getting caught.

  "5, 4, 3, 2... 1."

The counting in broken Shuriman came from above ground.

So what? What are you going to do?

To be extra cautious I moved further away and deeper underground. I hope they just leave in peace.

The ground started to get pounded as wave after wave crashed into the shore. It kept getting rger, but it had no effect on me. Did they think that just shaking the ground like that will squish me? Or as there another trick hidden behind, like sending water down to capture me.

I left the pce as the futile attempts continued in the distance. Distance is the best protection. Besides, those in harmony with the nd will come soon. Were they Ionians? Even so, they will face repercussions from the protectors.

Oh look. Here they come. Should I find a pce to watch?

I nearly started cackling at the thought of seeing them get beat up. The pilr of light is a beacon, and the waves was the reason. I popped my head out under a bush, peeking through the bottom as I watched the two get surrounded.

Pastel colored tunics with rope belts and straw sandals surrounded the duo. Each held a stick with only simple decorations. If they had more distinctions, then it would merely be the stringed amulet on them having different colors.

A formation was made as they formed a bristle of sticks facing the center. It was a waiting move, as they seemed to be waiting for someone. The uneasy shifting of their bance was worrying, but it ended as soon as a man entered the clearing.

Calm like a ke, stable as a mountain, swift like the wind. The seven green lenses on his helmet was ughable. The unsheathed sword in his hand had rings in one side, green and not touching the bde. What was the purpose?

They started talking, but I couldn't understand any word they were saying, and it seemed like they couldn't too. So the moon dy resorted to force, forming a pilr of moonlight into a temporary weapon.

  Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

Why did he bow, and why were they looking my way? I'm just a bush. A harmless innocent bush that was cheering them on. Tch. The wind blew over as a chill creeped up my sweaty back.

Gently, I was pulled up like a carrot, given a few pats to get the dirt off and made to stand behind the swordsman. Bewildered, I stood there.

By now, everyone realized that there was a problem with communication, so they started to gesture at each other, and the swordsman even started to use his sword to draw on the floor. My turn?

They somehow managed to use everything but speaking to end up looking my way.

Using my finger, I quickly drew three quick blobs symbolizing the continents; Valoran, Shurima, and Ionia. I pointed at myself before drawing an arrow from the ndbridge of Piltover to Ionia. They nodded in understanding. It seems that I had convoyed the point across that I came from Piltover.

Next, I drew a sun and moon with arrows to form a circle. I circled around it once, to show I've only been here for one day. With this sound logic, it would be a travesty to drag me away!

Thankfully, thankfully they understood, as they finally turned away. A sigh left me as I stretched. In the distance, my dinghy was wrenched out of the ground with just one hand. Life is about give and take. Haaaaah.

Now, what do I do with these people? Did I trade traveling with women for something worse?

After they left, the sticks they were holding came to a resting position. He said something that I'd assume is something like follow, as they formed a loose line, as I was escorted in the center.

We casually marched through the forest. A fresh smell filled the air as cut branches littered our path. The cuts were smooth to the point sap was still dripping out. Just a few swooshes in the front.

A faint pain struck my heart as the sword which was clearly not meant to cut branches glided through them like butter. A sigh left inadvertently.

Immediately, the procession stopped. The swordsman turned back to look at me. I raised my arms up to show that there wasn't any matter, before motioning forwards.

A brisk march started, which at least was better than the agonizingly slow pace we had. Sensing I could keep up with their pace, they quickened even more...

Your students are panting really hard. Why are you running so fast? I can't even ask them to slow down.

The forest thinned out, as we crested over a hill. Wow. Mountain. I totally didn't see it in the distance. Now let me catch my breath...

At this point only three students were left, using their walking staves while the others were left behind. The swordsman moved even faster now. Don't tell me!

  He jumped.

And instead of falling, he glided in the air, stylishly on his sword. My jaw dropped. My shoulder was patted as the others just walked down a dirt trail towards the vilge below.
