What if I use the trees in the water to build a ship? They seem wide enough. I just need to hollow out it out.
"Haaaaaah..."
More work y ahead of me. I'll do it tomorrow.
Complete darkness with rays of light overhead. There's definitely a big mountain blocking the sun somewhere east. The view must be nice...
Time to start.
The tide has come and went, revealing the roots of a tree in the sand. The trunk was not that wide, but it should be enough to fit me. Using the chisels and tools on the tree can ruin them, so I had devised a different method.
I first made a bde made of stone. Then I started pinching out a serrated edge, resulting in a makeshift saw. If I hold both ends and shake it rapidly. !!! It started to cut the tree, sending a steady stream of wood chips into the water.
Something broke. I had passed through something while cutting. A sugary smell repced the salty sea breeze as whitish green sap started oozing out of the tree. It might be poisonous, but I'll collect it for now. If the tree is colorful why isn't the sap?
With a rge cut on one side, and a smaller one on the other, the tree started tilting with a push from the winds. Water started to p at my ankles already.
It is fine to use a stone chisel on wood only in extremely small amounts, like trimming off the branches. Which is what I did, resulting in a few nicks here and there already. Is the armor I'm wearing suitable as a whetstone?
The tree was retively hollow on the inside, floating in the water even with a hole on the bottom. With a two branches and a trunk, I was set.
Carving out the inside was a grueling task, taking almost three hours before I gave up. I just decided to plug it with stone and set sail.
Wind shouldn't matter much if I row?
Shit. I regret not pnning more.
Rowing like this activated a different set of muscles than just steering it with a pole. The turbulent waters near the shore were annoying to row through as they pulled in the other direction of wherever I tried to go.
Then when I was in the open waters, fish regurly schooled under the boat's shadow, drawing in rger scarier creatures. I scared them off amplifying the sps on water I did with my oars.
Now, gigantic shadows had started to gather underneath. Ma! I steadied my trembling hands and continued to slowly row.
Is this my grave? Watery and far away from home. Do I even have a home?
Bubbles rose to the surface in front of my boat as I stopped paddling. Is this judgement? Kindred have mercy...
"Are you of the sun?"
"Pardon?"
It sounded like somewhat like Shuriman but it wasn't. Wait. Who was talking?
My head slowly turned towards the voice.
Phew. Just a fish dy holding a staff. So much nguages. Since she didn't reply from Piltovan, I'll try Shuriman next.
"Hello?"
Her mouth pursed as she spoke with great difficulty.
"Hello. You of sun?"
Sun? Oh. She's talking about the stones I harvested from the Shuriman capital. I pulled a handful straight off my shoulder to show before shaking my head.
"I no sun."
She visibly defted. Two people speaking in a different nguage that they both are bad in. An idea visibly popped up on her green face. She pointed at the stone I had on hand before opening and closing her hand.
"Moon. Ah, rock? You do?"
"Yes?"
"Follow me."
"Sure."
Better to follow a stranger than to wander alone sometimes. Especially if they can sink your little boat. Have to get to nd first. The sea is treacherous.
She tapped the water using her staff. How'd this fish dy have most of her body out of the water? The shadow underneath moved up, causing the water underneath to bulge. The water spshed to the sides as it frothed. A gentle shock was felt through the entire boat and through my body.
My dinghy swiftly cut through the water as the beast underwater carried it. We were headed due west just as a bright beam of moonlight shot up towards the sky before briefly dispersing. A rge pilr of the silver light struck down soon after, causing a wind to ruffle against us.
We shared a look as we changed directions.
What were the chances? At least this ill fated encounter was going to end soon.
After a short but long twenty minutes, we arrived at the rocky shore near the moonlight pilrs. The rough water turned calm as we arrived. I gave a side eye to the fish dy before looking ahead.
A silver ash haired woman pointed at me as a bright fsh of moonlight blinked beside me. Scary.
The silver crescent marks etched on her dimmed as she spoke with an authoritative tone in another foreign nguage. Another nguage. I need to at least learn a little. Four nguages under my belt already. Next is Ionian, and then whatever nguage is spoken in like Targon.
The fish dy swam up and bowed, speaking in the nguage she first spoke. The moon dy replied in a dismissive tone. My short encounter is over! I hope I never meet them again. I paddled off to the side as they spoke. Stabbing the oar into the rocks, I pulled my dinghy up the shore, scrapping it slightly.
It did its job, and I was proud of how it managed to hold up. Stepping out, I pulled the whole thing up before embedding it into the ndscape. Now with my security measures in pce, I can move. A voice called out to me.
"Stay."
I froze in pce before turning slightly. There it was. What's wrong with this world? Women and problems hand in hand. I replied tersely.
"Why?"
"Transtor."
Question marks popped over my head. We were already having trouble conversing and they want me to be their transtor? But with how scary they're eyeing me, something worse could happen if I refused. We are strangers. Sure she helped me go a little faster but it was something that would've been done regardless.
"No."
The moon dy raised her arm towards me. Is this the arrogance of the strong? I'll never be like that. I quickly sank into the ground to ensure I was safe. Why was I acting so guilty?
