  Chapter 77: Hungry, Hungry, Door.

Despite sacrificing a hundred Slimes, the left crystal ball was only a quarter full. Whilst the other one is still clear, apparently receiving none of the Slime Souls.

Celia: “Hey, Alisa.” She expressed, her tone shaken.

Alisa: “What is it, Celia?” She replied, confused to why Celia was acting off.

Celia: “If Slimes have souls, doesn’t that mean that… every monster does? If so, then this makes me a murderer.” She said with a grim, upset tone.

Alisa: “Everything dies, Celia. Besides, monsters are cruel, and, if left alone, would eradicate all life. Culling monsters is required to keep this world going, so you shouldn’t feel remorse.” She coaxed tenderly.

In ancient times, before people focused on Leveling up, countless civilizations fell from monster horde attacks. Once it became common for people to gain Levels, and when dungeons were understood, most civilizations didn’t succumb to this fate.

So even if they do have Souls, killing monsters is still required. Everyone knows this (besides Celia, until just now,) and, unless they’re fully thinking beings, such as Goblin Lords, most people won’t ever mourn for the death of a monster.

Alisa: “We get Exp via killing monsters, as well. The populace stays safe, monsters don’t over breed, and we get stronger. Hunting them is good.” She further added, coaxing still.

Celia: “I mean, I get it, Alisa. But what about this case? We’ve killed so many Slimes, all just to open up a silly door.” She asked with a remorseful expression.

  Alisa: “…”

At this point, Celia and Alisa had killed well over 500 Slimes. Of course, only after they guided them over to the boss door. Thankfully, it seems that each crystal could house three hundred monster Souls, as the left one was fully lit up, while the remaining crystal was almost full as well.

Alisa: “Either way, this dungeon is too dangerous to be left alone. So, just see it as these Slimes dying for us to protect the lives of many people. Think of your kingdom, your family, if you must.” She lectured, not finding any other way to console her partner, Princess Celia.

Celia: “Fine… Just one hundred Slimes left to feed to this engorged, gluttonous door.” She replied with an unsatisfied sigh.

  Twenty Minutes Later.

Rather than go far away, kiting Slimes in other areas, back to the door, Celia and Alisa practiced patience. Dungeons were split into rooms in a very gamelike manner.

Running back and forth was annoying, so this group merely waited for two specific, Slime-filled rooms to respawn its mobs. Only then did they aggro them toward the hungry door.

  Shift!

Alisa: “The door is opening, Celia. Be prepared! I haven’t seen a door like this before, so the boss might be even stronger than expected.” She advised in a serious tone.

Celia: “Dying in a Slime dungeon… doesn’t sound fun, so I’ll be careful. If the boss is too much for us to kill, can we escape? Like, does Teleportation Magic not work in it?” She asked in reply, gripping her sword’s hilt tightly.

Alisa: “We can, but the method isn’t… preferred. And, no. Teleportation Magic is always blocked in boss rooms.” She answered, reluctant to use such means to escape, her face flushing a cute red.

  Celia: “( ? _ ? )”
