Volume 8. Chapter 78: It Wasnt A Slime! (Chapter 779.)

  Chapter 78: It Wasn't A Slime!

Flan was originally the boss for this dungeon, but Tia took him/her out of it. She didn’t bother to destroy the dungeon core, so, the dungeon naturally made a new boss. If only Xena or Runey anticipated a scenario like this happening, then it wouldn’t have been a completely bugged process…

  Alisa And Celia: “…”

Once they entered the room, the twin doors shut firmly behind them. And then the boss, Xena’s Nightmare, rose from the ground.

It resembled an Angel, but more like one made out of melted, bloody wax. Though its Level was ridiculous, and some of its Stats were as well, Celia and Alisa didn’t think it was unkillable.

Ruina: “Celia, this monster shouldn’t exist, but you can probably kill it. Just be careful, as one hit will end you, permanently.” She said with care, forcing out a hopeful tone. “Obviously, with the name so signposted, this is Xena’s fault! I have to inform her of this…” She secretly thought, struggling to choose between leaving Celia alone, and then going to see her boss, or staying and watching to see if her mother will die once more.

The fight hadn’t started yet, as Xena’s Nightmare was blind. It stalked around its large boss arena, looking for the fools who interrupted her sleep.

Celia: “Alisa, what was the method you had to escape?” She asked in a whisper.

Alisa: “…It wouldn’t work. This is a separate dimension, a pocket one. I’ve never seen this happen before…” She answered in a depressed tone, heart beating wildly. “Even those who were secretly following us… have been forcefully removed from the boss room!” She added in her thoughts, mind going a million miles a second.

  Woosh!

Xena’s Nightmare: “Fools. Choose who to sacrifice, and then one of you can safely leave my domain.” She spoke in a raspy tone, appearing in front of the two.

  Alisa: “…”

Celia: “I’ll be the sacrifice.” She said with resolution clear in her expression and voice.

Searching by feel failed, so Xena’s Nightmare merely looked for Souls. Once she did so, the boss easily found the invaders, now blocking them with a wax wall.

Xena’s Monster: “You… would sacrifice yourself?” She replied in confusion, seeking confirmation, pointing a regal, golden, but blood-soaked spear in her direction.

Celia: “Yes.” She nodded in reply, not backing down.

Alisa: “Celia?! No, I’m older than you. It’s me, the adult, that should die in your place!” She loudly exclaimed, her mind finally catching up to the situation.

Celia: “Well, it’s too late for that. Sorry, Alisa.” She replied, forcing a smile.

All of a sudden, tears flowed down the noble’s face. Alisa was bewildered, never shedding a single tear for anyone before. She just couldn’t bear the idea of losing Celia, sacrificing little girl for survival. But time waits for no one, and Xena’s Monster then made her move…
