Chapter 29: Still More Problems...
While the Demon Empress was distracted, Zexian fled via flight. She ignored the wind, trees, bugs and whatever was in her way... until she arrived back at her abode.
She had seen many powerful Cultivators brought down from their pedestals, all from finding a spouse. Zexian just never fathomed that the Demon Empress would ever fall like that…
Zexian: “Shuren? Why are you here, in my private abode?” She asked in confusion.
Shuren: “Huh?… Zexian?!” She exclaimed in pure shock.
The Sect Leader had gotten a bit disheveled from her sporadic flight, not bothering to use Qi to prevent various things from staining her body. Though, all it took was some Cleaning Spells, and then she was right as rain.
Shuren was the Sect Leader of the Jia Sect. After seeing Zexian off… Well, Shuren was always one to go after benefits.
Shuren: “W-why… how is it that the Demon Empress spared you?” She finally spoke, trying her best to hide the storage ring on her finger, which contains various stolen items from Zexian’s home.
Zexian: “Thanks to her wife, who saved me. Tell me… is this reality? Seeing Guanyu be coaxed by a beautiful woman, preventing my death… I still can’t believe that I witnessed such a sight.” She asked in reply, before then being lost in thought.
Shuren was certain that Zexian would die, as Yan’s Sect Leader didn’t mention Guanyu having a wife, who could coax her into being sane. As such, she invaded the Yan Sect, slipping past the array that Zexian set up around her house, plundering the location for most of the day.

After all, it took a long time for Zexian to build up her courage, as even one of her age and power… doesn’t find meeting the Demon Empress to be a preferred occurrence. Even slightly…
Shuren: “If you say it happened, then it was realty. Anyhow, I’ll be leaving now, Zexian. I merely came here to make a grave, as well as pay my respects to you.” She said with a forced smile, already in the air, about to run away. “At least I don’t have to reach Heaven so fast, just to resurrect Zexian.” She expressed in her mind with pure relief.
Zexian: “Give my stuff back, Shuren. Or the cost will be… something you’ll regret.” She threatened, flying up into the air, and grabbing on to the hem of Shuren’s dress.
Shuren: “( o_o)”
The ancient Cultivator instantly realized that something was different. This wasn’t her first time trying to steal from Zexian, you see. Rather, this was perhaps the millionth attempt. Each time, Zexian would beat Shuren up a bit, before only taking her specific stolen items back, healing Shuren, and then leaving peacefully.
Shuren: “Your vast collection of Elixirs… are you willing to give them to me if I pay your price?” She nervously asked, no longer trying to fly away. “With those… I could reach Heaven within a few hundred years!” She secretly thought, excited.
Zexian: “Yes.” She answered right away.
Shuren: “Great! What is the price?” She replied, now coquettishly holding one of Zexian’s arms.
Zexian: “I’ve grown lonely, with my Cultivation stagnating. After witnessing Guanyu and Celia… I now know why. Shuren, besides being a thief, you’re quite good-looking, and have a good personality.” She explained, gently running her hand through the woman’s long hair.
Shuren: “…”
Zexian: “Become my Daoist Companion, Shuren. I promise to give you all the Elixirs you could ever need.” She proposed seriously.
Shuren: “D-deal!” She agreed with a smile. “Haha, what I did I tell my Sect members? Playing the long game worked out in the end…” She cheekily thought, happy to the highest extent.
