Volume 10. Chapter 42: Watching Her Die. (Chapter 943)

  Chapter 42: Watching Her Die.

Home was gone. All that were living here… are dead. I can feel it, our family is no longer living. Only… Celia’s Soul was still around, which made it easy to find her.

Whatever caused this destruction… was something far beyond any of us. I know nothing about this, I’m completely out of the loop. Who did this? How can I go back and stop them?

  Narrator Vulely: “…”

  Celia: “…”

These questions raced through my mind, as I needed them to numb me. Holding Celia in my arms, there was no denying my reality. She didn’t have much longer to live, Celia was dying.

  Celia: “…”

  Narrator Vulely: “…”

We just looked at each other, staring without a word. But her eyes… told me all that I needed to know. Resentment, hatred, despair. These emotions will be her last, and they… are my fault.

Celia: “I told you not to leave.” She finally spoke, voice mostly gone, sounding like a dying machine.

Narrator Vulely: “I…” She then cut me off with her next words.

Celia: “N-no… I didn’t. I said that you couldn’t leave. A poor choice of words, it was not what I actually meant.” She corrected with a sour laugh, looking away.

With Divinity, it wasn’t like a Higher Being’s body would ever get damaged to this level. But… with Celia merely being a torso right now… just proves that the fight wasn’t… winnable at all.

Celia: “And here we are, my mistake, driven by nervousness, caused you to come back. The damage from doing so… left you in this state, not much better than me.” She continued, tone mostly empty.

Narrator Vulely: “…Is this future preventable?” I ask, stifling tears, saying words that shouldn’t be said to your dying spouse.

Celia: “Of course. Which is why I’ve forced myself to stay alive this entire time, waiting for you to get b-back.” She answered with a forced smile, before spitting up blood.

No matter what I did, nothing healed Celia. And it seemed as though… all Mana was gone, or in the process of vanishing. That went the same for Divinity. If I don’t leave soon enough… I’ll be forever trapped in this horrid future.

Celia: “Listen… You should pretend that this future d-didn’t happen. Just go back, and protect my past self.” She earnestly requested, nearing her end.

Narrator Vulely: “T-there must be something else I can do, right?” I ask through tears, staining Celia’s beautiful face.

Celia: “She’ll ask what I am willing to give her. Make sure that I say that I’ll give her everything. Understand?” She explained with a serious tone and expression, using up her dwindling life.

Narrator Vulely: “She? The one in that Dimension, correct?” I replied with gritted teeth, pained from asking this despite Celia’s situation.

Celia: “An Ancient Being, neither evil, nor good. I denied her love, thus, she destroyed it all. We never even got her name…” She said with a defeated laugh.

  I Will Never Forgive Myself.
